Virtual Reality Domains (VR)

NameSilo
Watch
Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

Feel free to showcase your VR domains If you like...

Cheers

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
It depends but lots of forecasts are estimating 3 - 5 years for the tech to go mainstream.

As domainers though I would imagine we would be looking probably another year or two for more consistent end user offers.

Some end users are going to wan't to get into the VR game early enough to be in the thick of the mix.

Some exciting releases happening soon enough that will ease a little confidence into the market hopefully.

I agree and VR searches are growing exponentially already. Lets wait for the technology to improve and there to be more VR content like games and porn videos etc. It will only get better, this must be one of the biggest opportunities we have as domainers. Many say VR is a revolution in the making, just like when the radio/tv were invented. Who knows where the future will bring us. EXCITING!! Can't wait man! :)

I agree this is likely to be one of the biggest opportunities in domaining that we will see in our lifetime.

My only advice is that it's ok to dream big but we also must be realistic.

Potentially five years is a long time to renew domains expecially if it is a large vr portfolio.

Doing the math is important, hopefully we will see lots of sales over the next 2 years but some domainers on this forum have given themselves a five year plan.

The likelihood that a large portfolio will not sale any domains in a five year period is very small but it is always good to have a plan in place to know what you're target is each year to keep a portfolio going.

Very wise words.

Domainers will never get another opportunity like this again. The virtual visual language thats going to rule the market for the next 20 years is being build super fast. I believe some of the future trend domains on namepros will be in the top 20 Alexa rankings in the next 5-15 years.

BINGO!!!

BrainsVR .com and TopGradeVR .com were available some weeks ago, so i handreged them.

I believe VR is gonna be use a lot in therapy that is why i took VRtherapyplus .com and Vrtherapypro .com namebio shows Vtherapy sale in 2015 for $1500

I have been wondering if some of you own VRNNN or NNNVR domains in .com; it look like some chinese VR site have been using this pattern for their websites.

I am not yet sure if I should rejoice over these my VR names in .Stream extension nevertheless I got them for 0.60 each I believe it is a good buy already!

VRAR .Stream / VR-AR .Stream
VRlive .Stream / VR-live .Stream
VReality .Stream
Vreal .Stream
VRxxx .Stream / VRxxx .Rocks
WearVR .Stream
LiveVR .Stream

All I know is that "VR streaming" have been in action these days.
As for now, that is it for me in VR

cool
I own:

definitely a revolutionary niche... when all is said and done, our words or opinions here don't count for much on large scale of things, but when tech giants and billionaires say it or invest in it, then that's a different tale! just look around you... VR is just a barely born baby and already on news everywhere... the only way is up for folks with VR!

unique opportunity indeed! so let's all try and make best of it! perhaps a once in lifetime opportunity for many domainers, like some say! gl!

When I’ve told friends/family in the past what I’ve been doing with VR domains, they think I’m nuts when I told tell what I’ve bought and for the amount I paid, all I ever get is:-

‘Why isn’t everyone doing it then?’’

“Why did the person sell it if it’s going to be worth something?”

“What’s stopping them buying this other name instead?”

>:(

I just can’t be arsed going into it with people to be honest, so don’t tell anyone anymore.

Probably the best way to be.

People who don't really understand what you are doing are just going to see you as being a dreamer.

The best way to tell people what you're doing is once you have made a nice little income from a few sales. They start to listen then ;)

I am not sure how Sony or anyone else will be able to discriminate on what content is actually in a
360/180/3D/VR video. A video stream is a video stream. Even if streamed from your HD or SD card.
They can only negotiate what is launched or seen while in their software platform and nobody in their right mind is going to keep you locked into that. But I'm sure they will keep it locked enough in THEIR PLATFORM to say it's safe for kids even though I know that will never be true. Just won't be as easy.
It's only to address parental concerns that Sony does nothing to assist that.

I agree with that. Obviously Oculus and VIVE don't allow adult content in their stores, but there's still plenty of sites to download compatible video from. I think the existing adult VR sites will simply make their content compatible for consoles. Even if the files need to be downloaded on a PC first, then transferred to the console.

If buying up loads of VR domains made sense to everyone, everyone would be buying up loads of VR domains. I expect people laughed at the original domainers of 20 years ago. They ain't laughing now.

My mum probably would still laugh.

She calls me Walter Mitty :-$

She said to me this morning, promise me you won't buy any more domains lol

About 6 years ago, I realized the best way to describe it is to first explain real estate futures.
(property that is in a area that might develop)
And then show the same as domains. It works every time. It is virtual real estate.

But I don't talk about it much anymore as when you have some good sales, folks think you are just making easy money without work or investment.
Which is what leads a lot of folks into domaining in the first place.
:):):):):):):):)

the usual procedure for many/most domainers is to join into a niche ahead of time.. the earlier the better. early cheap aftermarket buys, registrations.. etc... then hold and wait and be patient. very few have made money in domaining without doing above. well.. at least definitely not the majority.

that being said every niche is unique and different.. some more revolutionary than others... and most simply not revolutionary at all. which is why I always say there is no point comparing, and putting all niches in same basket. or talking about future niches, based on past niches. etc.. putting aside VR Domains for a moment, VR is way more than just a niche.. more even than just a technology. it simply has potential to revolutionize humanity and the way live our daily lives.. but that's decades away to fully unfold imo.. in meantime, we'll have a beginning of it all.. cause everything needs a start.. which from looks of it will include VR startups, VR newcomers..huge money investments.. and yes, VR domains as something to go by and identify for the latter on the internet for anything VR related.. cause like it or not.. there aren't 43243 ways to abbreviate Virtual Reality but as VR... it's so obvious and intuitive that no one (except maybe few naysayers on here) has ever even bothered or wasted their time trying to do it... of course there will always be alternatives and second choices of domains.. for various reasons (financial or whatever)... but that's all they'll ever be... 2nd choices and tiny minorities...

a simple line on top of screen during olympics that said "download our VR app to view this even in Virtual Reality" is a good example of bringing attention to VR for millions of people and help it hit mainstream.. and in many ways its also free advertisement for our VR domains ... I expect such "free ads" to increase heavily in next years! ;)

cheers and gl to vr domainers!

Well said. I like to think the truth is in the tasting and, as a VR headset owner, I know for sure this is no fad and VR will become absolutely massive. I can even see a time years in the future when VR devices overtake TV/monitors and cinema for media consumption, not to mention content creation.

Lets hope years from now people will be talking about the VR domain gold rush and those lucky domainers who made their fortunes from it :)

When I entered domaining in 2011 for the first time, I remember being super excited and telling my whole family and friends about it and all thought I was crazy and laughing. Now all are asking me how to do it too, but they still do not understand it. lol

lol. I feel your pain.

I remember trying to explain to my own family once...same thing. I ended up taking them to Namecheap, and asked them to find an available domain (within 10 searches), that might be worth something. They all failed. xD

One way of explaining why you are registering virtual domains is to show a link to DnJournal's sales page and explain that other folk with foresight have made money by having faith in domain names

How long does everybody think it will take before the VR market matures? Its hard to say, because the future is uncertain.
IMO most likely 5 - 10years :)
