Can someone tell me what is up with their cheap looking logos ?

What? Lol If there's anything brand bucket got right besides its inventory it's their design and logos. They clearly know a little something about direct response marketing.

The idea of the logo is to subtlety bring out the meaning behind the name. If what you're looking for is gaudy flash apeal prepare to distract buyers from the name and lose sales.

You tend to expect more for a $200 logo other than literally just choosing a font.

I'm speaking from my recent experience where also a number of other members see it the way I do when asking for their opinion.

I don't care about opinions I care about results. If what you're looking for is a subjective point of view when it comes to creating a logo don't expect much.

On the other hand if what you're looking for isto make a profit you should focus your attention on what works based on statistics and test results.

As someone who has done plenty of split tests of my own Im fully confident that brand bucket has done just that.

Their direct marketing Scientific approach is above the fold in terms of professionalism.

Having said all that I'm sure there are a few logos that don't meet this criteria. In fact I've seen a few. But for the most part I'm pretty satisfied

Generally, I care about opinions which are gathered from the experience of others. Many people I know are frustrated with their logos and expected better.

I'm going to accept your view because its an "opinion", which is based on your experience.

Although I disagree I understand your point. Also I believe they allow you to submit your own logo. This is another option that you may want to look into.

Oh wow, wasn't aware you could submit your own logos.. Thanks for pointing that out.

I find most logos to be good, although the odd dog does get through. I recently complained about a few as I wouldn't pay $5 for these, let alone $100 on sale, and I felt they were so bad that it might cause buyers to overlook the underlying name.

In fairness BB did update one, but they mentioned that very often buyers don't even request the logo files. So while the logo probably plays a part in the purchase experience, it seems that it may not be as important as some believe. I also know that a lot of buyers find the names via type-in, and suspect direct traffic represents a very large proportion of BB sales.

I agree 100% with the above statements about BB doing things well. I imagine their conversion rate would be the envy of most ecommerce companies globally. They certainly dial all the right settings in terms of making buyers comfortable, since many of their sales (most even?) happen through BIN without any contact made. Probably a lot to be learned from how they do this on their site - very uncluttered and superb focus on the product, combined with multiple reassurances to get buyers through to entering their CC.

For anyone interested, do a site: search on Google under the /profile/ folder:

google.com/search?q=site:www.brandbucket.com/profile/

That will let you go through the various profiles. While @michaeljkrell might be the biggest, there are a decent number of users with 200-500 names listed. Michael only represents ~12% of the total inventory and the next biggest portfolio I found was ~4%. So it's still very diverse in terms of sellers.
Recognizing several NP usernames in those SERPs!:xf.grin:

Agree about type-in traffic probably representing a large portion of their sales. Before I got into brandables, I thought they would rarely get type-in traffic. But surprisingly many of my BB rejects listed at DomainNameSales get steady traffic and price inquiries/offers (more than my keyword domains do).

I guess if a name gets a decent amount of type-in traffic, it might not be a good idea to list it at BB (since the buyer would discover 10600 alternative names he could buy instead).

Was browsing Flippa recently and saw physical.com and undergraduate.com (used to be listed at BB).

This is a speculative industry for us domainers and the logo designers. We both get paid when/if the DN sells. If a designer creates 100 logos only about 10 are going to sell over 12 months. So they make $1,000 which is $10 per logo. It's a numbers game for them and they've got to churn them out fast, maybe 20 minutes per name, in order to make a living wage.

However, Margot does maintain some quality control and won't retain designers who consistently submit lousy work. Also, as mentioned by others the purpose of the logo is just to give a flavor of the DN not for it to be a work of lasting art and end user ecstasy. Yes, some of the logos are lame but for $10 to $20 I don't think we can expect brilliance every time.

I agree, people are buying for the name anyways, if the logo is worth $10 the buyer can afford to get a new logo designed.

@muttus -

To answer your question... for me... 2015-03-10 (March 10th)

-Jim
Same here, though I notice domains (for instance fosano.com) added today that were only created on the 4th April!

In-house domain:) So it can move directly to description + logo queue.

Many of their recently added domains were also registered in the latter half of March and early April.

I can think of a lot of reasons why they shouldn't be handling their own submissions differently than their suppliers. At the very least this looks bad, and can only work against them in the longer term. Not good at all IMO.

Sorry Brandbucket, but this really isn't acceptable.

Agreed. I must admit that I am getting a little frustrated seeing my 50+ names in 'Pending BrandBucket Review' and 'Pending Logo Design', for over 2 weeks while dozens of their own names are being registered and published. I have three names submitted Feb 28, which are still 'Pending BrandBucket Review'. While, as JimJammy mentioned above, BB has a name registered on April 4th already published.

Would be understandable if this was a free service. But from my perspective, I have paid $500+ to list these names and expect somewhat unbiased treatment.

How many votes are required to list domain free?

You need 100 votes for a free listing (10 vote=1 point, 10 points=1 free listing)

Yea I noticed the same trend with many of Michaels new names registered only 20 days ago. Thought it was a bit unfair.

Also Take some time to compare the ones you have had rejected to his and other top players. You'll see a trend there too especially ones in the -1600 range

If some of these names where yours you can bet they would be rejected.

Brandbucket review it seems, is Margot. Do you mean to say she should review her own names twice? Once at acquisition and once when listing them?

I'd say careful review is a good thing. I would be more wary if It was the other way around.

Not to say I do wish my batch got reviewed any time soon.

20 days might be one of the perks of being an ambassador?
