@Bob Hawkes you are very positive & coolest person ever seen in this community.
Well thank you for your overly kind remarks but as Michael Cyger said in an interview a while ago, one of the greatest things about domaining are all the great people in it. I love learning from others every day on NamePros. I have spent a lot of time here
but it still is true that almost every day I find something new and helpful, like this way to get more data from GD. I had actually never tried the spreadsheet export feature at GD.
I try to read every post for what helpful insight or information it contains. I honestly try to see both sides of issues, not that I always succeed. In 1979 I made an assumption in my job about someone's actions and motives. 99% of people would have made the same assumption. I discovered I was wrong, and took steps to make up to the person. Now 41 years later I still remember that, and try not to repeat my error. Sometimes seeing the positive will let your good intentions be abused, I am sure. But the vast majority of the time I firmly believe that people are good and do the right thing.
NamePros is a truly remarkable online community - maybe such communities exist in other areas, but I think it is relatively rare. Let's all make the most of it. Thank you to everyone who contributes each day.
I realize my post here is largely off-topic
. But on the issue of usefulness of Whois searches, I admit until I started using Epik I had never really even considered the question. Nor have I actually ever searched IP addresses provided to guess who might be looking at my domain name, and why. However, I do admit that one domain name that I was debating whether to renew or not, I did renew partly on the basis that it seems to regularly get lots of people searching the Whois. Is that a valid way to use the data? Not sure, maybe. For me I was slightly leaning to renew, despite no offers, and it helped push me to try one more year.
Thank you for your kind comment. Have a nice day.
Bob
