People who want a domain often email it before they look for a seller (e.g., they write to [email protected]). Your Catchall keeps the email sent to any address at your parked domains, so those messages reach you instead of disappearing.
Find it under Catchall in the parking menu. Each domain also has a "Catchall" tab on its own page.
How email reaches your Catchall
A domain that uses our nameservers receives email automatically. There is nothing to switch on.
- If you use the domain for your own email, set Custom MX records for your email provider (e.g., Google Workspace). Email then goes to your provider instead.
- If the domain uses other nameservers, its email goes wherever those nameservers send it.
- Some senders deliver only to an address that has its own mail records. Turn on Accept more emails sent to domains so more of the email sent to subdomains (e.g.,
[email protected]) reaches your Catchall.
Email sent to a domain before you verified it shows up in your Catchall once the domain is verified.
Inbox and All emails
Much of the email sent to parked domains is spam. Your Catchall opens on "Inbox", which shows only the likely buyers: senders whose own domain contains or looks like one of yours (e.g., Detailed Display Labs writing from detaileddisplaylabs.com to detaileddisplay.com). Choose "All emails" to see everything. A domain's own Catchall tab opens on "All emails".
At the top, the figures count your emails, how many are in your Inbox, and which domain receives the most, for the period you choose. Each email shows its sender, the domain it was sent to, its subject, and the start of the message. A chip says why the email matched. Your Inbox holds the emails marked "Domain match" or "Similar"; an email marked only "Extension in name" is under "All emails".
| Chip | The sender's domain… |
|---|---|
| Domain match | contains your domain's name (e.g., detaileddisplaylabs.com for detaileddisplay.com). |
| Similar | looks like a variant of it: a typo, a short form, or the words in another order. |
| Extension in name | contains your domain's extension (e.g., mymedia.net for a .media domain). |
Select "Filters" to show only one kind of match, and "Save as my default" to open on "All emails" instead.
Search
Select "Search" to look through the sender, subject, message, and domain of every email. A word finds anything starting with it (e.g., short finds shortdescrip.com); check "Exact match" to find whole words only.
Read and answer an email
Select an email to read it. Its page shows who sent it, which of your domains it was sent to, and why it matched. "Newer" and "Older" step through your emails.
- To reply, select the sender's address under "From". It opens a new message in your own email program.
- A "via" address is the one the sending mail server gave for delivery. "From" is faked more often, so when they differ, check both before you trust the email.
- "Download" saves the email as a file your email program can open, with its attachments. Downloads are not checked for viruses, so open them with care.
Good to know
- We do not email you about new Catchall mail. Visit your Catchall regularly, or check the email count for the last 30 days on each domain's card.
- Emails are kept for up to 180 days.
- Your list of ignored senders applies to inquiries only.
