The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
To clarify, our primary retail pricing is increasing $3, but majority of our Discount Program pricing tiers are going up less than proportionally to the actual increase. Our main goal with this increase is to push more customers towards our Discount Program (https://www.namesilo.com/support/v2/articles/ordering/discount-program) as this allows us to reduce the transaction fees a bit and share those savings with our customers. The other reason for the higher retail increase is so that it allows us some room to maneuver with future price promotions and deals.
Do you have a full list of new .COM pricing under the "discount program".

I am a bit skeptical that raising the retail price $3 to cover a $0.62 price increase is about sharing savings with customers.

If that actually is the case, then obviously the discount program prices should not go up much.

This will be our new Discount Program pricing:

ADUM: | 0+ | 100+ | 500+ | 1000+ | 2500+ | 5000+ |
Price:
| $11.95 | $10.40 | $10.30 | $10.20 | $10.10 | $10.00 |

So for all users who enrol in our DP, they will receive new .COMs at $11.95. And that price goes down further (to as low as $10.00 per .COM reg) depending on how many active domains you have in your account with us.

I pay $9.63 to renew .coms but I'm in a club. I'm sure GD will increase it by at least a $1 when prices go up next month. Namesilo used to be cheapest but correct me if I'm wrong but it's no longer the cheapest? There are others cheaper and no club to have to join?

You guys are nice register & I love the free privacy hopefully, you continue to get new clients. There may be cheaper options but your service is pretty good. You should consider doing transfer-in promo maybe transfer-in promo for $9.63 to match GD.

These numbers are after the .COM price increase in September?

At that point the wholesale price of .COM is going from $8.97 to $9.59, or a 7% increase.

Let's break down the numbers.

Current Pricing -

ADUM: | 0+ | 100+ | 500+ | 1000+ | 2500+ | 5000+ |
Price: | $10.75 | $10.35 | $9.95 | $9.75 | $9.55 | $9.35|

New Pricing -

ADUM:
| 0+ | 100+ | 500+ | 1000+ | 2500+ | 5000+ |
Price: | $11.95 | $10.40 | $10.30 | $10.20 | $10.10 | $10.00 |

Total Increase by tier -

ADUM:
| 0+ | 100+ | 500+ | 1000+ | 2500+ | 5000+ |
Price: | $1.20| $0.05 | $0.35| $0.45 | $0.55 | $0.65 |

Percentage increase by tier -

ADUM:
| 0+ | 100+ | 500+ | 1000+ | 2500+ | 5000+ |
Price: | 10.6%| 0.48% | 3.5%| 4.5% | 5.6% | 6.7%|

Assuming these numbers are after the .COM 7% wholesale price increase, outside the first tier, all the other tiers go up by a lower percentage than the .COM price increase.

Correct - these are the new prices that will take effect on Sept 1st.

Thank you for running all the calculations. Hopefully, this helps to better clarify our stance. For most domain investors on our platform, the prices for .COM will be going down proportionally speaking to the Verisign increase.

Came across this article which sums up what companies are doing to squeeze customers:

why don't u take vote here to see how popular your ideas is lol

Lol, I would but the playing field changed by a lot. Owning a domain like ai.com for free or for 50/year is definitely worth it, considering the knowledge we have these days.

And so it should be.

Yeh sure. When you take into account the cost of the raw materials that go into a domain name, and then transport costs from the factory to the registrar.
Then of course they have to feed the names and take them for a walk every day :xf.smile:

This made me chuckle, in a good way :)

Seriously though... Dot com is king but as they're closing the gap between .com and whatever's next (in terms of pricing) the average mom and pop shop might just decide on another TLD. Maybe not in the US, but globally, most definitely. Real usage is the one factor which gives a TLD right of existence.

My cctld goes for under €5... Yet more recognisable by the audience. Why pay thousands for an aftermarket .com, with maybe a €15/year renewal fee when you can buy a brandable in the cctld for less or get lucky and get it at reg fee?

Why go .com (non us) if you can still obtain a great single word nGtld for like €20/year? Or maybe mid €xxx then, €20/year?

Reg/renewal fees don't matter for top tier domains/legacy registrations but there's a growing trend in the use of cctlds and I have no doubt the unavailability and rising holding cost of a .com domain are contributing to that.

Edit: just good for thought :)

@namesilo

What's so interesting about your Discount Program?

At current pricing, NameSilo charges 9.75 for a .com from 1,000+ active domains in account, while Porkbun charges 9.73 from the very first 1+ domain without the need for any special discount program.

To make it even more attractive, Porkbun also has a special ACH account with pre-funding if desired, where the .com price is even lower at 9.22 (from 1+ domains) than what NameSilo charges from 5,000+ active domains (9.35).

On the bright side, they shouldn't be allowed to another price increase for the next two years:)

Not too bad for 100+ considering the Verisign gouge (thanks ICANN).

Now, if you would kindly give us a com transfer deal (got to get more out of E) I can hit the 100 mark pretty quickly.

Edit: just good for thought :)

The company in UK hand reg. ,uk .co.uk, .co, net, org, .cc, xyz, .io, .ai. Everything for reg fee but not willing to pay $3500 for .com .

22 mo later ...
Company: We would like to buy .com but ... for less.
Me: Great reason to skip vacation this year.
Company: Yeah, OK. Deal

I have a very big data telling me something about .com , always the same story ... recognition, trust, prestige, + company don't need to tell /advertise - dot com - just a brand name. More they pay for .com more they feel confident/stronger in what they're doing. And w upgrade to .com the co's user base get bigger. Pure data.

nGTLD adaptation is more connected w the upcoming IoT (Robotic, Finance , Health, Ecosys) ... than Blockchain (block (fragmentation) is an old tech & coin (SETI reward) protocol as well )

ccTLD is a great way to start local business ... HelloFresh.de ... 2012... & then something goes viral... Oh, must HelloFresh.com (Archive)

didnt gd double club price.. but that's gd.. that's not greed.. its ultra greed... and no namesilo never was sitting on top of the domprices lists.. minus some rare promo... their avg prices are just that avg... their ui is awful and tho ui is personal yes.. there are basics... if every company ui was like sav ... fast friendly etc..
we would all roll better.. sav is best also all across prices.. let's see their com new prices.. sav support not hot tho.

well have fun in yo gd club.. hope u get perks like nice gstring with gd logo

Im heading out of namesilo. They are now since a few weeks ago charging 21% VAT on 10.95 USD for EU customers, so Im moving everything out to Dynadot.

Sorry to hear that @decades80. Unless you are a business with a VAT number, taxes in the EU have to be charged by all service providers.

Was never a fan of the discount program, so officially have to say goodbye to Namesilo

The problem i have with discount program, is you have to deposit money into your account i believe it was $5+

However, maybe I am short on some cash and I have $8.95 in my account I can just deposit $2 I have to deposit another $5 and the $2 will just sit there.

I have the discount program at namesilo, and the minimum deposit is actually $50. That's pretty bad, along with other things that feel outdated there. But at least I still have the discount program without maintaining over 100 domains there currently (may have had in the past).

well word is they save money if u prepay...but ya whatever there is no justification for any of it when u basically see dyna and others doing more for less ie no conditions..Lower hikes etc.. I guess namesilo just doesnt wanna be in front of the pack... so everyone goes to where cheapest... would be stupid not to.

Yeah thats what is was $50... but still for someone who has less then 20 domains its not worth it. Their for I will no longer be using Namesilo. keeping domains with Dynadot and Porkbun
