information Explosive claim about .xyz and “Swetha”

From Mike Mann on LinkedIn -

“Swetha is just an alias of Dan Negari. The vast majority of those high end .xyz sales are fake. The reason they appear to sell for BIN is because it is too complex and risky to use Afternic as a proxy to negotiate prices with himself.”

If this is true that would be unreal!

No, of course she doesn't. At least when I last checked few months ago, but don't think anyhting changed ever since )) One person keeping 20k+ domains for many years (one extention only, and forget the renewals of course - it's nothing for her) never sell, all of a suddent - 200 sales in 2 years, all of the same type, BIN, no bargaining, no one else sells, tld is unpopular as hell amongst all the industries except few crypto geeks maybe, but alienbaba will now explain to all of us that all sales are real, Swedha is truly leading by example )))) All of you just don't worry, keep buying ))) Just ''use google and brains'' (that's a special key on his keyboard )))))

Don't you get tired of getting debunked?

Everyone on namepros can literally see Swetha selling many .xyz in the early days for a few hundred dollars right here on namepros, then 2020/2021 happened and she slowly increased prices to low/mid 4 figures, then to 5 & 6 figures..

Most of the sales I listed above which happened before summer 2021 were literally between $2k & $9k, then crypto bullrun happened she increased prices with crazy BIN and luckily got some 5 figure sales from crypto/nft companies that got funded millions..

Is this really hard to understand, or are you deliberately being thick?

Oh my goodness, even more nonsense.

"How come she has so many sales, while nobody else is" - Not sure what part of she a ton of .xyz is going over people's heads. Other people are getting sales but obviously not at the same level, because they simply don't have the same portfolio size/quality.

"Why .xyz and crypto". Sales are happening with crypto in other extensions as well. Have people heard of this thing called marketing? Maybe, they're simply targetting the crypto space.

"Why all of a sudden over the last 2 years". We had this thing called Covid. The money printers went into overdrive, lots of money went out. Lots of people took that money and put it into crypto, stocks etc. Bitscoin hit a high in November 2021, many crypto hit highs that year. That was just a year and half ago. Of course crypto domains would sell even more.

So just from casual reading:
She reports sales, most people don't. She puts it out there and you can can go thru it.

Mann said she was fake, said she was Daniel. She offered to get on cam, Mann folded.

There is certain criteria to meet to get listed at various places, DNJournal, Namebio etc, she meets them.

She literally gave her Afternic login info to Namebio and they checked it out.

Many people have given detailed info on the names sold, many developed.

Seems very forthcoming to me, more than I've seen anybody else do.

''getting debunked'' - is it another key on your keyboard, next to ''use google and brains''? )))))

97% chance you are associated with xyz (so furiously protecting your very lame case))) 3% - plain stupid. But people that stupid do not really exist, so, I think it's rather first option ))))

''Everyone on NamePros'' as you put it has made their mind already about an extension by selling single words for pennies on auctions. That's all that matters.

Though 99% XYZ sales by Swetha to the end users are fake/sold among themselves, I wouldn't deny the fact that you are getting good sales from innocent investors though registrations/renewals/premium domain registrations and their renewals.
They are really making good amount by selling domains to investors/resellers who believe Swethas sales.
That's the main reason those sales data are keep getting defended with full dedication.
I bet no one would bother to aggressively defend if I say .com/other top tld's sales are fake.
By claiming this I am not going to get any benefit but just save some innocent investors here. But any reason few people are so aggressively trying to defend a particular tld? I bet defending it definitely benefits them since they are either someone behind this or just an innocent investor who has invested on hundreds or thousands of premium xyz domains with a false hope.
Of course all premium domains, 2/3 letter and good one word domains are left for the real sales to the investors & buyers, while they sell non premium and two words domains among themselves.
By making all these claims you even made a person to renew a premium domain that didn't sell for an entire year just because he wasn't Swetha.
While xyz promotion to the end users failed, it's trying to make the investors their main customers.
While we can see millions of sites on .com/.net/.org , you can show only 50's/100's of xyz sites and yet make all these claims.
When investors understand this, they would have already wasted lot of amount on premium domains and bulk registrations with false hope.

Adding bottom line
99.9% of .xyz's real customers are domain investors, not end users.

This is déjà vu. Look, if you are claiming fraud without evidence, you are the fraud.

Don't you get tired of getting debunked?
They never do, we've tried on on other threads but it is clear the only "fake" is the people posting this wacko nonsense.

I didn't realise he was a baby who can't think for himself. How did I make him renew? That was his decision..

I think WP xyz isn't much of a good investment mainly because premium price discourages buyers, as the average person doesn't want to pay $2k/year. Also there's a limited pool of potential buyers because based on evidence most buyers of xyz are web3/NFT/crypto people..

Most popular meaning of WP is wordpress which I believe is why the owner bought it. Realistically the only people buying it are either someone creating something to do with WordPress and web3/NFT/crypto, or a company whose acronym is WP..

Also most people involved with WordPress projects are SEOs/Devs who tend to use .com, .org or .io. & .xyz is heavily associated with spam in the wordpress field for historical reasons. This is why it's good to not blindly invest in things you don't put much insight into..

Now if it was a broad 2 character like GM, ID, AI, GG, ZK which are all popular acronyms/ topics within that niche, there might actually be a decent chance of selling..

I personally would never buy a premium .xyz and have spent max $150 in the last 2 years with $1 hand regs during promos..

I don't care if you buy .xyz and have never asked anyone to buy. In fact nobody buy .xyz ever again. Are you happy now?

If Swartha is making these sales then I'd assume he/she is actively looking for buyers and has a very good sales pitch.

This is déjà vu. Look, if you are claiming fraud without evidence, you are the fraud.
If prominent domainers are scratching their heads over this then some skepticism is warranted.

Sure, it could be that the old guard "just don't get it," and that buying up hundreds of .xyz domains is the right choice financially right now, only time will tell. But given the history of .xyz, their price hikes and their premium listings. Not to mention its reputation as sites for rug-pulls. I don't see any lasting value in these domains.

If Swartha makes good money off .xyz:s then that's great. But I won't be competitor in that space.

Play.xyz sold for 5 K on dynadot last week
even with high renewals fees, this is a bargain deal, if indeed xyz is a viable extension.
Play is taken in 480 extensions

besides Google's holding company using ABC.XYZ, a site rarely visited except by shareholders and Google/Alphabel stock mavens, does the extension .xyz have any sites in the top 250 most visited?
XYZ is about 8 years old. There are .AI sites in the top 250. Even Line.me is one of the most visited sites in the world. Of course most are .com.

I am all for a healthy skepticism in general.

I have broken down the sales before. I also understand how domain investing works on a portfolio wide scale. You own a lot of domains, you sell some domains.

You can achieve high prices if your sell-through rate is low enough.

Mike Mann has made his share of head scratching sales as well.

Let's say you believe there is something shady going on with the sales, what could @DNGear possibly do to convince you otherwise?

It seems like a situation where the burden is impossibly high to satisfy some people.

Or most likely they try to increase the value of the registry and sell it.

NP Staff should close this thread.
- What's the outcome?
- Did she cheat or scam anyone?
- Wasting too much time from members

Would you like it if someone dig into your business and accuse you with no proof?
You should spend the time to take care of your business instead of being nosy with all the information you find from google.
I don't support her or wasting my time to find the information to accuse her of fake sales.
It has nothing to do with my business.

Freedom of speech would be nice in practice too. Why wanting it to be closed ??? those not liking may choose not to participate.

Me too dropping off from this. There is no use for me spending time on this.

At least the marketers get some benefit selling registrations and renewals and buyers own a domain until renewal.

Bye bye. Happy eating investors money.

You're missing my point. I'm not interested in (the success of) other sellers, I don't care whether those sales are real or not. What I care about is whether or not .xyz domains are valuable.

You may argue that they are valuable based off Swetha's sales. But that's not necessarily true. It could be that Swetha is just a really good salesman (or saleswoman) getting in contact with the right people and giving them the right sales pitch. It could also be a marketing ploy by Generation to promote their extension. We don't know.

What we do now is that one seller is supposedly making more money off .xyz domains than all other sellers combined, which is not only unusual: it's unique! So some healthy skepticism is warranted.

If you want to invest in .xyz-domains that's fine, but I'd advice doing some thorough digging beforehand.

My guess is that Swetha is one of those peeps who is a natural born sales person.

Also, she may be well connected... Swetha, probably knows people who knows people, and may get introductions or referrals to people and businesses in need of a domain name. This is an edge that most of us do not have!

Swetha may be intuitive about the broad business and financial sector and studies the business markets, as well as the domain/internet world. Then she parlays her knowledge and and natural talents into finding the right buyer for her domain names and makes the sale!

She see opportunities that others may not see.

For me, Swetha is the Warren Buffet of the domain world....

Some people are really good at what they do!
Just my 2 cents....

The difference is that if you invest like Buffet you'll make the same kind of money as Buffet. But if you buy .xyz-domains, well...good luck.

Look at this.

1O5HtoC.png

He's selling domains for 10 - 100 times what they normally go for.

It gets even worse when you consider the fact that he has nearly a quarter million domains registered (and considering those are premium listed domains, those are not cheap to keep).

Selling your domains with high prices, even if in a different extension than .com, it is good for all the domainers, because you're raising the prices for all of us. I don't understand all the hate towards you...

We're not living good times now when it comes to selling domain names, and instead of uniting our brains to find new ways of promoting our names to sell more, we're fighting each other.

The constant look in others' gardens and the negativity against fellow domainers can't bring anything good.

You're lucky selling something in the last 5 months because you have a large and valuable portfolio. With a small portfolio, I have not sold anything since the autumn of 2022, and it is the first time since I started domaining at the end of 2017 when I need to pay/struggle to renew the domains from my pocket.

Things will be better in the future, I'm sure... so maybe it would be a good idea to stop being mean to each other, as domainers.

A little bit of positivity?
AMEN!
