Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
After deleting a domain listing using Afternic 2.0, I immediately got booted out and now when I try to access the site I get the following error:

Access Denied

You don't have permission to access "http://www.afternic.com/dashboard" on this server.
Reference #18.b56096b8.1684712885.7bfef1c

Obviously the system thinks I did something bad and had now locked my IP address out. Unbelievable.

I really, really, really wish that Afternic 2.0 at least had the base options of 1.0 before it was deemed ready to upgrade.

Yesterday, I added a domain to my Aftenic account by verifying it with a third nameserver -- the verification process was fast.

But now the domain is stuck in review although there is absolutely no reason for this. There are no trademark issues of any kind here. The domain was listed on Afternic until yesterday via a different account and there are also listings of the exact same term in different TLDs.

I already contacted support about this but no answer yet.

I genuinely thought that the introduction of automated verification would mean the end of unnecessary friction with our Afternic listings. How naive of me : )

That happened to me too, and it's obviously the prior lister trying to get the domain back. Like other domain venues "certain people" get to bypass the authorization system and just list whatever they want.

Have you searched the domain on Afternic to see if it shows up as for sale on their site?

It could be some temporary technical glitch, because as of 15 minutes ago a lot of my domains are in review. Domains that I've owned for years.

Have you checked whether these domains are listed at Afternic and whether it's under your account/price?

Yes, they are still listed with my price. The lander is different though. Instead of the ns3/ns4 lander, it says "may be for sale", but that's normal when a domain is under review.

Hi @Rhinnnn, we're sorry your domain went into 'In Review' status. This wouldn't be linked with ownership verification directly, but we'll highlight your experience to support.

@DrJacoby thanks for this information. We have made the Afternic team aware and they're looking into this.

Why can't I verify the domain ownership in Afternic 2.0? Yes, I have added the required 3rd nameserver. I click on "verify domain" then I got this message: "domain ownership successfully verified, you can now add this domain to your account". I click on "close", then I keep getting the same error: "this domain already exist in a different account".

I have done this before, now it isn't working.

Ownership verification successful:

And then after I click on the "close" button:

I tried it a few times, but I get this same result always.

You need to wait for a few days then your issue should be automatically resolved.

That’s because the didn’t click the “submit” button

After successfully verifying your domains check the bottom of same page to edit price then submit

There is no submit button because the domain isn't verified.

Now I am getting a new error message:

Please note that it may take up to 48 hrs to complete your request due to the time it takes for TXT/Nameservers to update in the DNS.

You can return and list your domain upon successful completion of the request.

I think I have found the problem, I just need to wait for 1-2 days then try again.

Can you check that your verification record is displaying properly? (you can check your records here: https://www.afternic.com/account/ownership)

For NS3, check it's reflected in the Whois listing through who.godaddy.com, or a similar service
For TXT, check the record is active using a tool like https://mxtoolbox.com/txtlookup.aspx

If, after these steps and waiting for the records to propagate, you're still not able to verify the domain, please contact our support team at [email protected].

I had this happen, where I could not edit my payment info, and after a lot of posts here, I needed to contact Afternic support. After that, it was quickly fixed.

* My God, that "Quick Reply" auto-popup on here makes it almost impossible to reply.

As Dan is quickly going downhill I am thinking of trying out the Afternic landers, but I wanted to confirm something:

When using the "Request Price" lander (which does not include a minimum price), do Afternic brokers harass you for any inquiry ($10-$20) or limit them to only those that meet or surpass your "Minimum Bid" on Afternic?

@GoDaddy @James Iles

I want to report again that GoDaddy brokers are spamming me.

Stephen Mathias is the guy I'm assigned to.

I have asked him many times to stop sending me emails for no reason.

I have also asked him to report to his superiors that I would like to change the broker I'm assigned to.

I have asked him many things, but he is just ignoring me, and he keeps sending emails...

He is also highly incapable.

Just now he sent me an email, asking if I'm interested in buying a domain that I already bought from you 3 months ago, which is still registered in my GoDaddy account...

He is spamming me about counteroffers of tens of thousands, for domains that I'm telling him that my budget is $200-$300.

He even sends follow-up emails for offers I made months ago, and the seller never replied.

Please make him stop.

Two questions:

1.) Has anyone else noticed price updates are not updating at a number of Afternic partners? (NameCheap...Google Domains...Name.com to name a few.)

Before anyone says, "it could take up to blah blah blah hours/days," I've been monitoring a this for approximately two weeks and the prices are not updating.

2.) Has anyone had success with spreadsheet uploads in beta? I cannot get passed "Invalid file type uploaded."

When I upload spreadsheets in the classic version, nothing happens. It's taken, but unfortunately not a single change is made to the portfolio.

@GoDaddy /Afternic, it would be so much more efficient if we had price filters to work with at Afternic or at the very least the ability to copy & paste domains for editing.

Quite frankly, I'm surprised those basic key options still aren't available after two key acquisitions and 2 to 3 years of being in beta.

I'm currently noticing this on Namecheap and Dynadot for some domains. And I'm talking about domain prices I updated some time ago, I think over a week.

Updated prices do show up correctly on GoDaddy though.

It seems that there are still critical problems with API connections. I think it might have something to do with the DDOS protection they just implemented via Akamai.

A few days ago, while I was following godaddy auctions, the system identified me as a bot and blocked access for hours.

The system (or maybe a team member) removed one of my listed domain name even though I've already verified it with TXT record.

The reason was inaccurate WHOIS data which is redacted by WHOIS privacy like all of my other domain names.

Again, check to see if your domain is still listed at Afternic. If so, some bigwig stole it from your account.

Happens to me from time to time and it's a big hassle to reset everything to get it back, especially knowing that "certain people" can just take it again with zero authorization.

All Afternic members are equal, but some are more equal than others.

I've checked but it's not listed.

Weird things happening all the time. There might be ghosts in datacenters.

Maybe a stupid question, but have you checked if it just sold and was fast-transferred from your account?
