.HOMES re-released

I received in a Uni Newsletter that .HOMES has been released without restrictions. Did anyone else see that and try to register any domains. It was tough going. Most were already taken or very premium prices from the registry. I did manage to get OFFSHORE and LAKESIDE for discounted reg fee :)

Whilst I was searching. I found RETAIL.DOMAINS available, so took that too :)

How is this extension doing?
As you guys are probably aware, I own about a hundred .homes domains of which I plan to renew 25-50%. I was actually hoping that I might partner with Dominion.Domains aka DominionDomains.com (because I gifted the name to them), but they have their heads so buried in the sand they haven't a clue what I could do for them. I've shared the story about how they attempted to totally rip me off by asking an absurd $64,000 for HomeSweet.homes right after I gave them a domain they needed that they refused earlier. It wasn't long after this incident that I purchased; DomainEthics.com because it was the most unethical thing I'd experienced in my 50 years of starting, operating and naming businesses....sad:xf.frown:

Finally, I know for a fact that I own some decent .homes domains, and I intend to profit from them despite the lack of cooperation from the register/registrar in 2020. Happy New Year(y)

I think we need to see some interest for domains from the industry, namely REALTORS. Which so far hasn't been forthcoming.
Stub...i knew getting into this that realtors weren't coming to me, but rather I need to take my domains to them. I own some really good .homes domains like Sunset.homes, Spectra.Homes and geo names like Sonoma.homes etc. that have a lot more value than the $25 cost to renew them. Outbound sales is the answer, and I'm working on it. Cheers and Happy New Year!

To clarify, I am not saying that .home registry should lower the $25.28 renewal rate for everyone since that might be considered to be a fair price for end users who might just own couple of domains, but if they want domainers to continue investing in tens or even hundreds of .home domains then registries should work something out with the registrars to give a better renewal rate to domainers, that's of course if they want domainers to be able to keep holding on to their domains on a long term basis.

Until an extension becomes popular amongst end users the registries don't have any choice but to depend on domainers so that they can cover their basic expenses of upkeep and running the registry so if they are smart they have to come up with a way to help keep domainers afloat. If the majority of domains are dropped after a year everyone loses. They have to come up with a way that is a win- win situation for all involved.

IMO
oldtimer...you sir are spot on saying, "They have to come up with a way that is a win- win situation for all involved." I know they read this thread and follow me in particular, but unless they have a "come to Jesus" realization, it's not going to happen. Someone should buy Humble.homes (oh wait, someone has) for them to get the message. I was hoping they would get the message when I bought DomainEthics.com, but when they didn't get it, I learned nothing will....sad:xf.frown:

It is a Dominion TLD. Will ask @Sufyan Alani to activate it. I don't recall why we did not put it live yet, but seems timely to get that done.
Rob...i own 75-100 .homes of which about 25-50 I plan to keep. Half of them are with GD and the other half at Dominion. In particular I don't want Dominion to get the renewal, but I'd like to transfer the ones I'm keeping to Epik. I'm sure it's easy, but can you have someone reach out to me to help? You have my email address and cell#. Thanks

You are best to reach out to these guys, and see if you can get some sort of promo out of them, they are desperate for some new blood, as they have handled the initial release of this registry horribly. You would probably get a lot of transfer in’s if you got a transfer promo out of them also.

off topic:

There are already so many realty type extensions in play, I wouldn’t put my dollars into getting business from the real estate sales industry to much on this extension, especially the way they tag premiums. I don’t think I have ever seen 1 listed end user sale to come out of this registry. Although they do act as their own domainer type with their tagged premiums, which I believe revert back to basic renewal after the one time fee.

I am now the proud owner of an ocean view home...sorry, must have dopped off.

I mean www. oceanview.homes

Many thanks to @wrolie for the quick and easy transfer.

Does owning two .homes domains count as a property portfolio?

Checking in after almost 2 years. Anything changed for .homes potential wise? Renewal fees have come down again. Are folks still renewing their .homes? Any big end users/websites? Any sales?

The only reported .homes I see on Namebio is

BACKYARD.HOMES last sold for $711 on 2019-08-13 at Sedo

I'm surprised .homes isn't more popular. I thought homes was a key searchword and tons of use cases for people in Real Estate.

(City)Homes.com are extremely popular with end users. There is basically no demand for .homes.

I have only one .homes domain which is related to home sharing. Though the home sharing economy is adversely affected by the pandemic, the web traffic of my domain remains stable. No inquiries and offers so far. But I believe that my domain will have more buyer interests when the pandemic is gone. I will keep a long hold for the domain as I think home sharing is the future trend for young generations and my domain has potential with a standard renewal cost only.

So I just found this site:
folio.homes which has a nice portfolio showing other xxxxx.homes in use.
also a lot of other xxxxx.homes forward to folio.homes

I can't tell if they are trying to sell the domain name folio.homes or if they own/selling the other xxxxx.homes in the portfolio or if they are showcasing how other large Nationwide brokerages already own xxxxx.homes.

I think it is the latter, which then bodes better for .homes than I thought especially since large Brokerages are using them, even if just redirecting.

Have you built it out or only listed for sale? I think you will get more visibility if you build it out, even if just a simple landing page. Or even lease it out.

For example, I plan to further build these out to attract more visibility and usage:
owner.homes > easier/more attractive than forsalebyowner.com
coming.homes > easier/more attractive than comingsoonhomes.com

of course I'm biased

was wondering if someone can validate what I said above?
