This is from Zucks Meta presentation. Soak this in, because this sort of thing could be seeing some push back as super cringy and an attempt to simulate reality when it doesn't need to be simulated. Yeah there are some people into this on VR Chat, but those sites are obscure and not emensely popular among the masses and it's not like no one knows this shit exists, it's just that it's not that compelling.
There's going to be some push back. Not everyone is going to buy this virtual meeting bullshit for business and education. It's impractical and again, is NOT futuristic but rather a cringy looking attempt at a futuristic concept that has failed to grow popular since the last 20 years. We will cringe even harder looking back at THIS presentation in 5 years
and that won't necessarily be a bad thing.
Yes it's still early and that's my point. I don't think we really know what kind if virtual social applications we *need* yet, so corps are trying to push their ideas in hopes that they'll catch on. That's how it works *sometimes*, but usually you have serious problem and your product is the solution. I have my doubts about whether or not this sort of thing will go viral (virtual meetings). It will probably grow to be more popular than it has been over the last 20 years, but that's going to be because of increased exposure to the kind if people who will be into this sort of thing... But it's not for a huge chunk of the population. I believe the majority of our population with find this vaguely interesting enough to try once or twice and that's because of how impractical and cheesy it is.
