RedStagg: Your lack of sales are not by choice, they are because you are registering names with ZERO value. I mean, really really bad domains, you need to study the market. Take a look at Michael Cyger's post today in twitter. I feel bad you are wasting money on these types of domains, not sure how you see value in any of them. I've told you this before and you keep buying and posting names that will never sell. I'm just trying to help you not lose money.
Says the person that just regged .ca with hyphens!!! At least 50% of my crap names are dot.com. Maybe I could teach you a thing or two or three.
As you know everything about me, you'll know that I have domains registered with GD and HostingIreland. I have them all parked at EFTY. I have had a couple of offers through EFTY with them just parked. That's two people who liked my names enough to put in offers. I have not made one single telephone call or sent one single e-mail to try and sell my domains. Therefore, how can you be so presumptuous to think that I have not sold any domains only by choice. I have been doing this for just over one year and during a worldwide pandemic. Most seasoned domainers would struggle with those parameters.
And now the statistics. I was going to just ignore you as it is my time and effort and money and I'll do what I please with it. I thank you for being concerned enough about me to mention it but I really don't need your help. Trust me, I have this covered.
I own 417 domains...roughly 50/50 split with dot.com and not.com.
I have only spent €5,000 or roughly €12 each although some are more expensive.
They are valued by GD at €202,416 or €485.41 each. This is a cost to value ratio of 40.48%.
I know that GD automated appraisals are guesstimated but just for arguments sake say it is 5% which is €10,680.20. This means that using 5% of value I have doubled my money. I have certainly not registered or bought names that are worth ZERO. Surely, even YOU can see that.
I have a list of maybe/standby names which has 1,800 names on it. The cost to register all of these names is €56,454 and they have a GD valuation of €818,273. That means that these names would have a cost to value ratio of 14.49%. I have not done any comprehensive analysis on why the ratio has dropped from 40.48% to 14.49% but I am just presuming that it is because it literally lists everything you could imagine and more. There are not any .ca with hyphens so maybe that is why.
They are not really really bad domains as you claim but I'd agree that some of them are a bit left-field. When I really really need some advice I will still accept it if it is given with good intention but I will then go on to do my own thing anyway which is the whole point of this business anyway. There are many different business models at play across the whole spectrum of domain investors and it is a little egotistical to presume that your way is the only way.
Please don't feel the need to draw attention to my abilities or my way of doing things as I managed the first 54 years of my life without you and I'm sure I will manage the next 54 without you too. It is reassuring to know that not everyone on NP thinks the same way that you do and rather than try to interfere in my business they just let me get on with it and give me constructive criticisms when necessary and praise when it has been earned.
I know that this business is dog eat dog and there are only winners and losers and there is no 'i' in friend so I will do what I do and carry my crap names around like a shameful portfolio as I roam the highways and the byways warning others not to go down the path that I have chosen to tread.
Please rest assured that when I do decide to start selling my domain names I will do so knowing that I have and love domains that I know how to sell. Once I get a proper handle on this business I may even be able to buy your hyphenated .ca's.....NAH...Dot.com is king...Did no one tell you???
