Problems, Bugs and Fixes at Afternic - Report Problems Here

Spaceship Spaceship

I suggest a new thread titled Problems, Bugs and Fixes at Afternic - Report Problems Here. Then we can all list our issues so Afternic have to fix them. These Afternic probs have been repeatedly flagged up across numerous threads on here over a period of time, including the need for 2FA. Godaddy own Afternic and have the resources and motivation to fix it - this risky mess is unacceptable and reflects badly on their brand.

For info, Afternic keep reverting some of my domains to "In Review" status for no reason, and I only know that if I log in there to check on them. Until I then ask support to take them out of Review they are not listed for sale and will not sell at Afternic.

@Joe Styler When can we expect Godaddy to take action on Afternic, including implementing 2FA?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I am also using those name servers. Strangely, sometimes they appear with the GoDaddy branding and sometimes not.

By the way, the "Privacy Policy" link on the GoDaddy version uses normal text colour, so some people may think it is not clickable @Joe Styler.
Same thing. I'd love to see it as an opt-in feature - either directly via the dashboard, or through nameservers - so as to introduce some consistency.

This is still happening. I register domain at NetworkSolutions.com and within 24 hours NetworkSolutions.com is sending me Fast Transfer opt in email. It's still not fixed I feel. @Joe Styler would appreciate if you could look into it.
Yes you are right it broke again. We are working with them on a fix.

You should try canceling and relisting the domain. That should trigger it.

That's not strange its how an A B test works. Traffic is split as part of a test to see which one performs better.

Joe,

How to disable opt-in option for all of my domains? I do not want fast transfers.
It is hidden from customer/

Thanks

It's being tested. Once the results are in we will flip it to whatever is performing better for everyone without anyone having to opt in.

What do you mean fast transfer is hidden from customers?

Moved all my DNS servers to a different platform as I've had nearly 12,000 visits but not one click. Absolutely zero. I'm not expecting loads but zero seems strange to me

I personally think that the form no matter which lander ends up winning should have the field confirm email removed, I don't see what value that adds and in fact think it can only get rid of more serious leads who give up (have other options they are looking at etc.).

Having a requirement for first and last name, email and phone number is enough to remove 99% of the fake leads you will get through having a uniregistry type landing page with just 2 required fields (i.e. name and email only) IMO.

Surely you want to make it as easy as possible for buyers to get in contact not add friction?

Am I missing something?

I mean I cant find how to disable this option by customer side.
I would ask first why you would want to do it since there is a 2x greater chance of selling priced opted in names than there is of not having your names priced and opted in.
If you still want to opt out you need to cancel all your listings and re-list them and do not price them, or do not agree to opt them in when you get the email(s) from your registrar asking you to ok the fast transfer option.

I have sold a .com via fast transfer 7 days ago still no money ..

I added some bin to afternic
Usually i would have to contact namesilo to get the approve link from them.
Last night it came automatically 15 minutes after the afternic mail came
Big improvement there
Thanks @namesilo and @Joe Styler

Not sure if you guys at Afternic are testing out something but the Make Offer Price is displaying as the Buy Now Price as well for some of the domains I checked.
For example if domainxyz.com is listed with make offer of $20 and with no BIN and you do a search for domainxyz it says domainxyz is for sale, BIN $20 and Make Offer $20. I checked for a few of the domains with just make offer and this seems to be the case.

Hope folks on this thread could check your domains as well.

@Joe Styler Really appreciate your presence here, the incredible support and patience.
Quite sure this has already been requested a multiple times.

At afternic Can we at least get a 100 listings per page if not 200. It is incredibly tedious if some
Also please let the page remember the number of listings set per page.

Yes that was at the start of this thread and runs all through it and was in other threads before this one, one reason this thread started in the first place.

Really minor fixes like this would make so much difference and are not difficult to carry out. Why not show some consideration and respect for domain owners who are your suppliers, Afternic?

And will Afternic please make it possible to identify quickly via search or in an exported spreadsheet which domains are in "In Review" status. Do you have any idea what a PITA it is to go through every single 50 item listing page trying to find which domain is in Review, so you can then manually ask Afternic support to take it out of In Review status when they get to it a few days later. That really is a waste of time and money and once again is easily fixable.

I agree, one of the most painful things is to find out which domains are pending review, especially if one has thousands of domains listed there.

If you have thousands of domains listed reach out to me. I will get someone at Afternic to handle your account so you don't need to monitor that kind of thing.

I know that it is important to have bulk management for Afternic domains. I have been continually bringing this up with our teams. I have not forgotten.

Hi Bob thanks for your reply and your work on this.

There is an attractive Bulk Edit option in the beta interface at Godaddy, but it only handles domains registered at Godaddy - this other thread tells people where to find it https://www.namepros.com/threads/ca...from-within-godaddy-now.1123235/#post-7104926 so perhaps Afternic will have something like that some day.

But in the meantime a simple edit of a database query would solve one of the most persistent and desired changes requests here on NP, and would save all of us time and money and boost sales. We would like to see 500+ domains displayed in a list there, not just 50.

What is happening on Afternic is a database request roughly like this:

Select * from Domains Where UserID = nameofuser LIMIT 50

Someone just needs to change that to LIMIT 500

So how much does it cost to add a 0 to a line of code? If the staff are telling you they can't do that, I don't know what to say.

For reference: https://www.w3schools.com/php/php_mysql_select_limit.asp

I'm not sure... Their pages are so heavy and bloated so our browsers will die. They should re-build everything. Bye bye 90's...

What is the name of Afternic's current payment processor?

Afternic are charging 2% for currency exchange - others will do it for less, so there are significant sums in play. And the same person may have bank accounts in more than one country, not least of all for exchange rate purposes.

Can anyone tell us who Afternic's payment processor is?
And whether it is Afternic or the payment processor who are responsible for the strange problems and issues created by the way they currently collect payment info:

Go to >My Account >Account Settings and scroll down to Domain Sale Payments from Afternic.
(Here your existing payment methods are listed - the Edit button is greyed out but works, after some delay)

See screenshots below of the forms on Afternic.

When you create a payment method, it asks for your address on the first page. Then on the account info page it ONLY shows fields suitable for inputting a bank account in that country, not any other country you may have an account in. Surprising. Then at the end it asks you to complete Form W8.

So to list a USA account to receive USD you could put the bank's address in the USA on page 1. The Afternic form will then accept the bank's payment details on the next page. Then on the final page it asks you to complete a W9 form (only a US Person can do that, under penalty of perjuryhttps://www.quora.com/How-can-I-fill-a-W-9-form-when-I-am-not-a-US-citizen-or-live-in-the-US ) but offers on that page a link to fill in another form, which in this case should be Form W8. But that link does not work, even when Afternic email you to tell you to use it.

Anyone having problems with this? Sounds like once again Afternic need to fix their website.
