I completed another, third, 5 figure sale of the year.

The sale price from inbound inquiry was $12,500 paid in bitcoin. After CoinBase fees, net around $12,350

Original asking price $19,000. Starting offer $5,000.

After initial email enquiry, I made a phone call to the number provided. Made sure it was less than 24 hours from the inquiry to the call.

We had a nice conversation for an hour, but price negotiation was over the email. In all, from the receipt of the email to receiving cash in my account - less than 48 hours.

No escrow was used. We carried out the payment and name transfer "live" over the phone. He paid 50% of the amount, I moved the name, he paid the second installment.

The new owner is an amazing guy with brilliant ideas and feels good to know that the name will be put to a great use.

I will reveal the name later today :)

Sincerely,

El

My first sale at $250 is also my highest till date. The good thing with that, it was sold within approx. 1 week of registration.

Hope I'll also have a few 4 & 5 Figure sales this year.

Congratulation! for your sales. But In my own opinion I think you sold it too cheap. The name is a very precious one, though two word but a very nice one. You left some money on table.
Congratulation once more.

Always great to hear End User sales, directly by the domainer owner too, second one I saw today in threads started before and reported. The Brandable markets rejection was the best thing for you, as they would have taken 30% of their usual measily $2500 listing price, so instead you got 5 figures.

Congratulations, hope you maintain the momentum.

Congrats on the great sale @Recons.Com and also putting in a plug for finishing chemistry courses!

Very interesting that BrandBucket and BrandRoot rejected it, although in a way I can see it. This sale shows the value in knowing a specialized field. Congrats on the smarts to recognize the name, and quickly complete the deal.

I was amazed they did not want Escrow for a sale this big, but sounds everything went smoothly. Thanks for sharing, and look forward to your next sale! (and personally I feel like @stewmath, happy to have any level of $$$ sale!)

Congrats. I remember closing a $X,XXX deal by talking to the buyer on Skype before closing the transaction. I think the big fish want to hear a voice before sealing the deal.

That was a very nice domain. Congrats on the sale.

Agree. But, again, I just price nice domains higher and just remember that there are still deals out there on the buying side. While most of these types are unique and one of the kind, there are others that are also unique in their own attributes.

Congrats ! (y) @Recons.Com . Nice Domain Name and an equally great sale. Now that's what we call a Motivating start to Y2018 :xf.wink::xf.smile:. Wish you more great sales and do keep sharing your experiences, it keeps new domainers going !

Thank you for nice words. I love motivating people, but in this business every motivation has to come with words of caution. Very easy to burn money and it is vital to choose wisely, spend frugally. My heart aches seeing some of those regs and for sale domains ))

You are on a roll. Let us know what your magic trick is :)

I wish there was a magic. Just started doing basics right. Always had a hunch for good names. Just now do more weeding off, more adding to marketplaces giving them more visibility and do more research before purchasing, making sure the name is generic enough that many companies around the world might want it eventually or that someone will eventually come up with the idea.

Been getting a few lately but mostly in the 1k - 1.5k range

The big ones give quite the adrenaline rush though

Congrats on the sales

Getting small ones is as important, actually. They are the basis of the business and I rely on them for the regular cash flow )

Thank you! )

Great that you managed to get it so quick. Here is to many more! Looking at your signature, you have mostly crypto names. It is always good to have eggs in different baskets. There are not simply enough buyers in that niche.

Thank you! This is quite non-liquid business. Trying to extract max value might result in much longer waits and lead to cash flow strains. Instead, it might make more sense to sell and find another gem.

Thank you!

Did not view it as brandable. Added in bulk and even if they would have accepted it, would not list. For example, BR approved Myrtles/com and put a price similar to brandables. Of course, would never list at that. The name has hundreds of potential end users and they view it on par with some made up letter combo. For them to get names like that, they'd have to learn to recognize them as premium names and they cannot recognize them even as brandables.

Thank you )

Many startup owners are nerdy guys. They look for name with deep meaning that an average Joe is clueless about. Hence the name Googol for the largest number with a name that became eventually Google. Amazon is just a river name for most, but for Bezos there is a much deeper meaning/association.

For most "noble metal" is just a word combo, but for those who are into science or even into luxury, they immediately recognize it as a term/concept/idea/value and that is why there are tens of companies with longer version of the name already around the world.

This guy's business idea works actually great with the name. Hopefully it takes off.

Thank you. I agree. If you are used to doing handshake deals, you want to at least hear the person and get the feel. And, I am sure, he also checked info about me, before closing.

As for me, I trust my instincts when deciding to do business on trust.

My motto:

If you do business on trust, losing is possibility
if you do not do business on trust, losing is certainty

But, then, again, I do have lots of life/business experience and am rarely wrong in assessing with whom to conduct business.
