With the erratic swings in the cryptocurrency market, it brought to mind that some of my domain investing colleagues might need support.

All joking aside, there are very real and serious consequences for many real people that invested heavily in this market.

I saw a couple of YouTube videos of people that feel they might have invested too much.

I do believe that cryptocurrencies are here to stay, and I know that there are people that invested early enough to be okay even now.

My prayers go out to any of my fellow Domainers that might be locked in for a while.

I also think that every investor should set some type of personal floor limit so as to have a plan if losses must be cut.

I feel you. Such a volatile market these days, all the cryptos do is drop. I made some good profits on shorting bitcoin though.

I was backing XRP before Christmas.
Currently breaking even.
I think they will all have another surge pretty soon.

My concern is for good people losing money they can't afford to lose.

As I read articles over the past week (not just follow prices), seems much of the news is negative. This is a real concern for me.

I too heard the horror stories of people re-mortgaging there homes to buy bitcoins and other crypto.
No-one should ever risk anything that they can't afford or don't mind losing.

Heard one or 2 stories of people who had sold houses in exchange for crypto?

Like all people who get wealthy, there MUST be losers

This is happening because the crypto investors are not experienced in this kind of investments. A lot of first time investors are loosing their money, because they have invested when the prices were high, but in the same time the experienced investors are buying now. For example, I'm in a lot of crypto groups on facebook and there are lot's of guys buying or waiting to buy. One bought today crypto's( not bitcoin) worth of 12k and there are a few waiting to buy if the prices for bitcoins will drop to 4,5k

It isn't the investors who are in trouble, some of us are still showing profits. It's the cannon fooder who saw crypto as an easy ride to riches, and ignored the basic rules - don't speculate with more than you can afford to lose, and learn the market before you dive in at the deep end.

Bitcoin is still on a growth path if you look at the one year trend lines, but obviously there will be some more rocky rides in the future.

That’s the risk of pouring money into a currency that isn’t actually a currency

I have to say only one thing, HODL as long as you can. In this market situation not only cryptocurrency but also all the stock exchange are showing blood bath scene.

It's easy to get caught up in a frenzy. No one wants to miss out. I just know some people that are a bit worried.

Well, if they discover Tether has not been keeping a 1:1 ratio and if they can't prove the reserves they say they have... HODL is going to turn into a major SODL

I think if they drop as low as a few hundred I might buy just one!

Why didn't you get out when it was approaching $4, how much more could it have gone, anymore and it would have surpassed bitcoin in market cap? I don't think you realize how many coins insiders are holding.

Most crypto investors are doing ok, check the 3 month charts, which is not a lot of history in the investment space you are still talking 100-500% returns. It just hurts for many to lose those gains which could have been sold, then bought back.

I would of sold if I had a substantial amount - but I didn't,and when I purchased them I was prepared to lose and say goodbye to my money. If they do reach that price again I will likely sell them,if they drop more to about 20 or 30 cents I will probably buy more. I think we will all be using crypto currencies of some sort at some point in the future, however,I think at the moment it's in its very very early stages still.

Ripple is more complicated of a coin as it is centralized, but it had all the buzz around xmas, there was no stopping the XRP train. Going from pennies to around $4 in such a short period of time was an amazing ride even for many who got on late. It is the one's who got in around $2.xx range, and never got off, that are really feeling it.

Exactly, when they were trading at 2-3 dollars I read many posts on the internet where people were buying as much as $65000 worth.Crazy if you ask me, but I guess with all the hype they were hoping they would increase to $10 in no time at all. I guess if you have that much money and don't mind losing it's ok, but I certainly don't!

...........hence the saying.. do noti invest in anything crypto or other more money that you are able to kiss goodbye if comes down to that

combined with the fact that for btc, no one has even faintest clue where it comes from. or why.. and who owns most of it... those are major red flags that something fishy going on.. for all we know, this could be nothing more than governments clever way to get their hands on people's money.. beyond waht they get in taxes from people... maybe yes or maybe no.. but no one knows for sure.. and that's the problem.

domains with their 10$ annual renew fees are far lesser risk than cryptos... a year is longtime to get sales.. a btc or others can go from a lot to nothing in a few days!

i bought some ripple when was 30cents.. sold around 1.2$.. but I bought even more trx when it was 15 cents.. so now I'm stuck at -500$ hoping to get it back. it would stink to lose it.. but.. I won't jump off bridge if I do.

I mean Amazon does about 500 transactions per second I believe, Ripple can process about 1500, seems like a perfect partner, but that is a long shot. But rumors are what move price, Ripple is still up like 3X from where towards the end of last year. It sat in the $.20's for a long time. I think we bleed out more here, traders will buy back in, and cause a rush, but they will sell off also, we will see how regulation news goes as well, but yesterday was a good wakeup call for many.

domain investing colleagues might need BRAIN not support! lol

Domain investing and crypto currency "investing"(risking) are Serious Business, if you made wrong investments with your money, there is no turning back. Say Good Bye to your cash.

To me bitcoin investing is like a Dead End Road. Its like buying a piece of land in Mars, some say Mars will worth millions but you will never gonna live there anyways! LMAO! You get my point?? if not, good luck with your bitcoin ventures!! :hilarious::xf.grin:

Guy's, be calm & stay tuned. Instead of having debate, it's best to check what caused bitcoin & other cryptocurrency to go it down.

At the time of writing, its moving towards ups, hope it's cross $10,000 again.

I think lots of people might be looking for time to get out.
