Personally, I'd like to cut congressional budget by 30% and eliminate their retirement benefits but that's not going to happen.

No argument from me on either point. They cut spending on those who are vulnerable and who need it most.

I'd like to make them participate in the same health insurance markets as the rest of us. May not make much impact because they all can afford the top of the line plans, but it might at least make a point.

I think it is hugely worrying to be so massively indebted, on top of that to China, a nation that is not the most friendly or benevolent. It's just that there is a convergence of interests but it won't last forever. At one point, they will use their leverage and teach America who is the real boss. Politicians sold your country away.
And while I am not fixated on national sovereignty I can easily see the problem here. This cannot have a Hollywood ending.
