Disagree. Nothing on this earth as profitable as domaining. I refer here to buying for single digit $ and flipping for $xxx - $x,xxx in a few weeks' or months' time... yeah, some of us do that... from time to timePer my own observation and experience, in 2017 BTC is a few times more profitable than domaining...
Yeah, there's that... rather than good luck in his future endeavors, perhaps we should wish OP to stick to his guns and throw in the towel for good, before he gets hooked, like most of us herep.s. I can't quit... because after ~10 years it is already as narcotic for me...
yes..because there hs been a huge boom in sellers..everyone wanting to flip to make some extra money..and no demand and buyers...only resellers offering humiliating prices on flippa..For me - it was really very profitable before 2015...
Nowadays I don't think so.
few months..this is not a short game, you tried it for a few weeks????
post like this keeps me goingMy 1st really significant sale happened after 15 months since I started...
Learning what makes a good domain name, what to buy and what not to buy
I would recommend for example that newbies read NP a lot before they buy anything, also some select blogs, follow reported sales, analyze them, digest them until you get a feel of what kinds of names are in demand, which extensions are in demand and which are not. You must understand what sells, otherwise how are you going to make educated purchases. If you don't pay any attention to sales and just names because you think they are cool, then it's wishful thinking. How do you recommend a newbie learns?
Really ? Examples ?I think learning how to outbound sell is something good to learn, i have seen some outbound sellers sell some shockingly crap domains for good money.

How do you know if the reported sales are real? ... and not just a boys club trading a certain set of domains back and forth? If the market is being manipulated, I don't see how following reported sales will give a true output for a valuable domain.
How do you recommend a newbie learns?
I used to think I was learning when I'd watch DomainSherpa. But now I'm starting to think that program was all hype, designed to push the agenda of a select few. I don't know much about Adam Dicker, but from what I can tell he wasn't the worst sherpa. This industry makes me sick.

Aside from the good advice Kate has already posted the best advice I can give is to find a niche that is ideal for you and your likes..
