Well I think their use of the term is nothing to do with Intel.

Ericsson also putting ‘Merged Reality’ in their top 10 trends of 2017 is also nothing to do with Intel, their definition of ‘Merged Reality’ similar to how XR is being used.

https://www.ericsson.com/networked-...-hot-consumer-trends-2017#trend4mergedreality

All :xf.cool: with me - Hope to read another company using the term for something completely different tomorrow (y)
I understand. For your sake, I hope it does not get used to loosely to add to the confusion.
As soon as I come to 'some small level of acceptance', someone has to throw a monkey wrench in and leave no clear path once again. :xf.confused:>:(:yuck:

Yeah, I was thinking that myself actually after I wrote my last post.

I guess if I had choice, I’d like Merged Reality to be defined similar to how Ericcson describes ‘Merged Reality’ – It’s the perfect name for it, VR/AR and other techs like AI/IoT all ‘merging’ together to form a new term/reality ‘Merged Reality’.

But obviously I don’t have much of a say, it’s those Silicon Valley guys that have the biggest say on what’s called what, just happy 1 of those guys are behind it.

Well, I would not put much decision making on parking hits unless you know they are natural (type-in) traffic.
But it does look like a keeper without that.

true... hits do not matter to me.. unless there is clicks too and domain renews itself from it.. then definitely a keeper.. I onyl mentioned hits because you mentioned related matter.. and I thought there could be some relation between google earth and my hits. I guess its not impossible.

cheers :)

Badly Needed..
It is more inline with the early talk as I see it when they were talking about "Cinematic Reality"
...and I'm sure that should please @cordoba with his format of interest.
But you can't get content development started when you have no developer prototype out there,
so you have to go it alone pretty much, for starters anyway.

'When' they come to market (i'm expecting a dev proto next year.) it will be costly and probably not change the names market as we see it now, or as it will be in 2 years.
The device itself will probably be better than the Hololens consumer updated version that should make it to market at least 1.5 years before hand and be at a much higher cost than the Hololens.

The larger issue is 'CONTENT' and that will be a deciding factor for a successful biz model over time.
COST + AVAILABLE COMPELLING CONTENT vs competition will say if they sell. Better or not.
The reviews are going to be great in a controlled light environment where the room light angles are controlled, but how about outdoors ? They still have a lot of work to do getting this to a portable size.
So a lot of this is dependent on being able to use content developed for/under the WMR platform.
Magic Leap has some very powerful backers and can stand the test of time. But sooner or later it will need profits. The cost and content issues will need to be addressed. A longer term issue before it could have a effect on our names markets if they choose to use the original 'cinematic reality' term, or something new.

Some additional perspective...
By the time this makes it to market, you will also be seeing Rift & Vive v2 and complete eye and face tracking built-into the product. And some additional players with who knows what unique qualities.
Oculus and 'perhaps HTC' are making a VR/MR Goggle of their own that will probably be out by xmas.
HTC will at least have a similar product to GearVR and their own phone with it.
The cost of these VR/MR products are expected under $500. Apple will establish it's market by then.

I don't know what everyone else is seeing right now but I am seeing
over a moths worth of offer views in my sedo listings and we are not half way through it yet.
But I would like to hear it if you are noticing the same.

Most of the looks are names that I have had for over 3 years.
Not counting some of the adult names I have been promoting .
It may be a fluke or just some late comers trying to stake some claims.

O.K. I'm game for one more for my 2% longshot category...
CRGlasses
(CinematicRealityGlasses) and it's so keyboard close to vrglasses, it tipped the scale for me.
And I'm such a 'sucker' for hardware names... But shortening my quota for next month....LOL..

I think these Videos are great and really gets you thinking about the technologies that Magic Leap are trying to use and how they might go about implementing them.

Defo worth a watch if you are interested in the tech possibilities on what Magic Leap are trying to achieve:

Thanks, great videos that seem to explain a lot - I think I'll watch them 2 or 3 times (need to!).

The following is a sci-fi video on the future of augmented reality, but it's pretty cool. Then again, it might be an example of trying to create moral panics over a technology that hasn't even got going yet.

Looks like we are finally getting our space vr cam thanks to HTC for the remaining funding needed.

BTW... I think we are about to see a fork in Android.
Samsung and Oculus want to license it out to other Smartphone makers. Any takers ?
Could be a good move for everyone involved but, it will change the cell phone market forever.
As it has been, Android was still basically the same but with modifications for each handset maker to the specifics of their unit.
So, could be a definite splitting where you may find apps not compatible with others if it takes root.
Bad for google & dev's ... good for Apple !

But, here is a interesting read. Because I have never felt the roll-out of VR would be linear but exponential.
And Graphic chips are the largest hinge point.

6K is a very respectable cam image to a HMD. That is about 1-1.2k viewport image to the headset.
I had been working with a 2k image to my HMD 6 years ago. But my cheat was to use a 2k wide cam and headtracking info sent to the craft on 2 servo channels turning the cam 360 horizontally and 200 vertically.
It works well with any 3D glasses but I used those from Vuzix till oculus came out with the DK1.
Much larger screen but to much screen door. Googles are the best way as to block-out the outside light.
It's the only way to fly ! So I might say 'I made the hat and tee-shirt on this one'....LOL...

They are already working with MR creators outside of Magic leap on content . Just stealth mode, its in the xxx ranges.. Not enough ofcourse but will get bigger in time.
