I was thinking domainers and maybe registry representatives can post hints, current deals, and deals to come as Black Friday approaches! This can be a win win for domainers and registries. This can be a great on going thread if we contribute to it regularly making it easy to search for discounts and deals. As it can be hard and time consuming searching registry by registry for a wonderful promo in niche TLDs ccTLDS and GTLDs as some of them are only for a few days and even a few hours long. I'm thinking something like below. It doesn't have to be just like that but the more details the better. Happy Hunting

Who:Registry
Extension(s) with Original cost + Discount cost
When: Start and end date/time
Limit/Restrictions: 1 per account? / unlimited?

I just got an email from Whois.com so I'll post their promos:
Current Promo
.net promo $3.88
.Biz promo $5.48
.ME promo $4.88
.in promo $3.88
.CN promo $6.88
.US promo $4.88

Valid only from November 27th to November 30th!
.Space promo $1.58
.Website promo $1.58
.Site promo $1.58
.Online promo $5.88
.Tech promo $5.88
NOTE:
  • These special offers are applicable to the 1st Year of New Domain Registrations only.
  • Renewals, Transfers and Premium Registrations will not attract this special pricing.
  • There are no restrictions on the number of domains that can be registered through this promotion.

Thanks @Malin for your reassurances on register365. I did get all 11 domains I ordered eventually added to my account. Don't like how they've buried the page to change nameservers or the fact that you have to do it 1-by-1, but obviously they want you to keep their nameservers which allows them to pitch you their addon services.

Nice bonus that they allow free one page websites and email forwarding for domains using their nameservers, and support has been quick so far.

Glad I could've been of help mate. I hate most of the registrar panels too, but since this came that cheap I won't even care on the extra work :)

hi
do you mind saying more about difficulties moving things out of there?

thanks

One of their new policies (DAC Quote) 'To improve customer satisfaction' (/Quote) was removing the option to remove auto renew on domains. Furthermore these domains would automatically be charged to your credit card a few months before expiration date. When asking for a refund, you would instead get a 'credit' that would be applied to your next 'purchase'...which was automatically charged (on domains that previously did not have auto-renew activated). If you were lucky after spending a few hours on hold and/or on the phone you would get a promise of refund a few days later which never came. so you had to call back a few times for each credit, then for each refund. Eventually you got your money back, but some of your sanity was gone.

A few weeks before they started these policies (and others i forget) i had made a small change to the whois info on the large majority of these domains. DAC refused to allow transfers for 60 days following these changes despite having suddenly made all these radical (borderline fraudulent) policy changes 'without notice'... So i was stuck with this loop until i removed my credit card from their site...this too presented it's difficulties because you could not request an authorization code to transfer out without having a credit card on file...so you had to call for each of those too when the time finally came. These are not fond memories...thanks for bringing them up lol ;)

your most welcome. ;)

I asked for more info because my plan was to transfer quite a few domains to them, on their current promos, and maybe a further small discount on transfer based on bulk 100+ domain transfer.

do you think I should be concerned about losing my sanity in future as well if I make this move?

If their promo's move to a certain price i was thinking of moving a few hundred there too, but this time around, these would be mostly low value domains with good chance of being dropped the year after so the potential psychological impact will be lessened :)

Fool me once....

Maybe they will be awesome from now on though...who knows...

would you say they changed name and polciies and everything else about them because people were complaining about their, as you put it, borderline fraudulent policies?

There was a lot of complaining going on in the 1st months of new policies on their facebook and other social sites. That seemed to die down over time, but i didn't follow it closely (once i was gone). I would say changing their name was a good move especially if they have better management personnel and/or better management philosophies.

Wow, this is just crazy! I guess customer service is a four letter word!

Thanks for the information!

@ulterios, I bet the registry of .xyz isn't happy of the actual sales since it's launch and that's why they went with this low pricing. .xyz has offers everywhere nowadays and they go cheaper than .com's and such.

Anyone compile a list of what was offered hour-by-hour on BF for posterity?

Yeah, you're right about that. There are TOO MANY new extensions coming out and it's flooding the market. They are probably just trying to make as much as they can before they disappear in the extension flood.

http://www.thedomains.com/2015/11/2...registrations-than-donuts-183-gtlds-combined/

They're doing better than Donuts and all 183+ of their GTLD's. It's a low-pricing strategy that leads to buyouts and perhaps ubiquity or widespread use. Whether it's the next .pw or something useful is the big question.
