This story starts with DNF; a barren wasteland that once was a leading forum within the domain industry. While the forum itself played a huge role in propagating the myth that is Adam Dicker, the story really begins with DNF College in the summer of 2011.

These are in no particular order.

From what I understand, Adam still owes north of $33,000 to previous customers and business partners. As I receive more information, I will update this figure.

Grudge? I have a grudge....because your trying to fix something that otherwise would not have been fixed if no one stood up and said anything. And just because you give people some of their money back does not mean you have righted those wrongs. Those spiritual cuts run too deep brotha

All I meant is on Day 1 Shane was so committed to the downfall of Adam accusing him of the worst things.
And now, not so much. This is kind of weird.

He saw that certain people where not being dealt with correctly and decided to act up on it. After those people's problems that we legit had being cleared, he felt that his objective has been completed.

You realize this is not about you or any of your business right?

Perhaps if you understood what the purpose of that post was you wouldn't have wasted that bandwidth. I would explain what she and I spoke about but frankly that's none of YOUR business.

Why are you trying to start trouble now? We're past the drama and working on a resolution.

The funniest thing I've read so far, considering this comment came from you and the underlying tone of the thread. :alien3:

Now I'm reading there will be no part 2, you and Adam have been colluding on the phone, blah blah blah. Funny how your tune did a 360 after speaking with Adam.

Like you said, in at least 2 messages, the people you 'represent' are satisfied with the results and you'll reposition if necessary. You might choose your words more carefully since this thread and the Flippa thread might come back to haunt you and the people you 'represent'.

Best of luck to the both of you!

I never said I was protecting his reputation.

The people I represent are happy with the results. They are what matters.

If there are more people out there who haven't been heard they should get in touch with me.

Otherwise, I'm calling this a success.

I really am not in the mood to write a page to explain everything.

I will simply say that those I represent are satisfied with the results.

If things change, we will reposition ourselves accordingly.

I'm here to help you. I'm here to help him. I'm here to help her. I'm here to help everybody in the domaining world because I'm a great person, but if you want me to be a nice guy and review your portfolio of 50 names it will cost you $143.74 and an extra $50 if you want to do it live on Skype plus $50 for the recording. LOL

For me the part of this story that hits home is the freelancers being strung along and not getting paid...

I'm extremely empathetic towards them because I had my own life ruined by a similar situation. I was working on an app for these wall street guys and every week they'd promise me money and the day would come and they'd say "oh don't worry, we'll have it by friday" and then on friday they were at the hamptons or something and told me to wait until next wednesday, etc. Huge promises... Meanwhile, I see their $5000 bottle service tabs from the club (the same as Adam bragging about this $10k .ca purchases on Sherpa while not paying his freelancer).

When you're a freelancer you're in an extremely vulnerable position with very little to fall back on. Often you're living week to week, and when someone offers you steady work and a great payday, that's such a great opportunity you have to go for it. And when those payments stop coming...you have two choices...walk away and get NOTHING or pray that the person is telling the truth and hopefully you will get paid. And to get confronted with that choice on a week to week and then month to month basis is so stressful and painful.

I booked two vacations with my girlfriend that I had to cancel because of these non-payments. We ended up breaking up shortly after that summer as our relationship ground to a halt. I just had no money and I was eating ramen noodles like a college kid.

I have no experience with Adam, but as a freelancer that has been through a similar situation before I just wanted to share where my sense of empathy for the victims in this situation comes from.

For any freelancers reading this, make sure you start writing contracts. Get deposits, etc. Protect yourself. Also, think of ways to diversify your income so you can survive these types of situations.

So you are suggesting Michael should stand by 1 of his 100's of friends he has (in the domaining world alone) and allow his business he has built from scratch to possibly go down in flames just to be a nice guy? Would be pretty ridiculous in my opinion, I would have done the exact same thing he was professional and protected his future income. No one is worth sacrificing your career except for maybe a spouse or close family members in certain situations.

No.
There's nothing here about Michael, don't try to find it. What you call 100 friends are not friends. They are business partners, colleges, people you work with or whatever.
When it comes to friendship you don't calculate future income and think is he worth sacrificing or not, but simply help, that what real friends do. Usually it takes difficult situation to weed out fake "friends" and see the real ones.

True, I work for myself too and a late payement or never receiving a payment can hurt your life in various ways.

In all fairness, there is nothing wrong here, it's business, it's marketing. Domaining is no exception.

Products/services are thrown into the market everyday, most are junks but that's reality, people hustle. As a buyer you are expected to be wise, careful and all that, and as a seller, you are expected to be fair and deliver on your promise more than anything else.

That's great, I'll let them know!

@Adam Dicker
I would appreciate it if you can assure @LannyB that NO legal or personal retribution will be made against her by you or your associates for sharing her story and experience here with us. That she will be allowed to live free and clear to continue her pursuit of a career of her choice. No-one should have to live looking over their shoulder every few minutes. Can you do that?

THAT...

Take it as a blessing in disguise Bob as you got rid of a person who wouldn't stand with you at tougher times. LOL

I completely agree that there is nothing wrong with charging for domain evaluation, in fact it is a logical progression from appearing on Sherpa evaluating domains, considering all the people that would start emailing for your "help".

But it also begs the question, isn't $143 actually very cheap to hire the time of somebody who likes to project an image of themselves as a highly successful millionaire internet entrepreneur?

Doesn't that suggest that they are worth less than they like people to think? This is something that they can't outsource, you are buying the time of the top guy for $143...... I'm surprised somebody who claims 6, 7 and 8 figure domain sales would sell themselves so cheap.

I mean, if it takes him 1 hour per evaluation, then a 40 hour week doing 40 reviews a week at $143 each with no holidays would only gross $297K a year.

Considering he's claimed to have businesses making 6 figures a month, and 7 & 8 figure domain sales, do you think he'd really be offering $143 portfolio appraisals if he was as successful as he has sometimes claimed?

Hmmmm..... I think we all know what this actually refers to.

Shane Bellone has bailed on this person, by declaring this thread "done", when it should perhaps be him seeking these assurances as a prerequisite to agreeing not to publish part 2.

Shane, why have you backtracked on publishing part 2, and declared yourself finished with this thread, without seeking this assurance yourself?

I am sure this has nothing to do with Shane and more to do with the NDA Lanelle Barber signed.

Well all I can say is that I hope Shane hasn't knowingly thrown this person to the wolves without caring about the consequences, simply to further his agenda, and then walked away when he's achieved his objectives.

This is a bit of a development isn't it.

So, has Shane encouraged her to share her story, and did he know about the NDA? If so, it has plenty to do with him.

Unlike you I am not going to refer to that poster by her full name, because she hasn't used her full name as a username, unlike you.

No! it has nothing to do with that whatsoever.

I did not end the thread. I took a step back because it was turning on me.

@LannyB does deserve an apology and much more.

@Adam Dicker has said he will be making a statement.

Why don't we give it more than an hour and see what happens.

Actually, several employees that got this started and commented all signed NDA's and Non Competes.

Right now I am focused on righting the mistakes I made with customers that have issues.
