Bought a new .io domain through sedo last week a NN.io , bit of an investment and gamble but worth a shot in my opinion.

Anyone investing in .io domains? please feel free to share your investments.

Cheers

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
It seems that close to 50% of bids on .IO domain names at Flippa are fake.
To say that there is a trainload of fake bidding going on is an understatment. Some auctions are ending at low to mid $x,xxx, only for the bidders to move on without paying. When re-listed, they are selling alot lower with some of the same bidders not going above 10% of their previous bids. The fake sales are creating hype, a boatload of new listings with many, many disapointed sellers that were hoping to replicate the success of these deadbeat auctions. Some of those that actually go through, get pushed to friends/contacts.
The real auctions that go through to real buyers and the good .IO terms selling for mid $xxx to low $x,xxx. The fake auctions are easy to spot - they are average terms selling for crazy prices - high $xxx to mid $x,xxx.

I'd like to get some input from other members on this.... Why do you think .IO domains go for so much on Flippa? If you look at NameBio you'll notice this extension sells virtually nowhere else (except maybe a half dozen sales on Sedo this entire year so far).

Some might say the same thing about .INFO domains on Flippa, but at least we see those showing up other places like Afternic and DomainNameSales.

Sold 2 of my 12 privately (via WHOIS) in the past 3 months while my listings on Flippa went no where.

The ones selling on Flippa are probably priced reasonably enough for resellers to be interested in them.

True. Its not a place to sell to end-users - IMO. I am looking for end-users only.

Art.io is currently at $4,000 on Flippa. The reserve is close to being met. One of the first .io ever registered!

Yup. I bought into the hype, signed up on Flippa, registered a few .io domains, listed them and then started wondering why no bids were coming in.

Currently, I've decided to just go with no reserve auctions, and so far, they seem to be doing rather alright. Not great, but just adequate to turn a profit.

In any case, it's been a great learning experience for me, and I still intend to acquire some good names and sell them.

Hi, I am planning to place Pendants.io on flippa auction in a few days, any pre-auction comments are highly welcomed.
Just to mention the owners of pendants.com have priced their dot com property at $xxx,xxx/- that is six figures.

Unless you are trademark lawyers, none of your opinions are very useful here.

Take it to pm's.
