The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I would not take less than $10K

The term WEB is huge.
The D makes it nicely sayable - "Webbed.com"

It's not the radio friendly term (that would be WEB D) which in itself is fairly decent. Could be BRILLIANT for web defense companies (security services) could be web d (design, development).

Security companies make big $$ so you could hold out for even more .. web dev companies are poorer and use cooler chic names so you can't .

Risk - Reward :)

At least it's a half serious offer.

@ruzeen : from that perspective maybe... but look what is next.
After that i made a counter offer and the same client made his final offer which was 10.000 $.
Which i turned down also
ps> all those offers are real and can be proven if anybody has doubts.

So to recap> first offer 3500$ i mad acounter offer and he made hist last offer 10.000 which i turned down.

Any other opinions, what would be the max to expect from my domain?

Thank you

I dunno... 4 letters are pretty unpredictable.

WZRC.com recently sold for $20,000 at GoDaddy/Afternic. WebD is a lot better than WZRC, imo. But then again, luck and timing has a lot to do with good domain sales.

WZRC is the call sign of a radio station.

As someone else said, a letter before "web" would be better than a letter after... but in this case of "webd" for web design or web development, I think its very brandable.

Although saying this, IMO, webdev despite not being an LLLL would be better than webd.

I would estimate at the low-mid $x,xxx range - could be special as a website developed with a community behind it or perhaps a new spin on the old dmoz like directory website ("web d[irectory]"), for instance, perhaps in reverse (instead of submitting to a directory, the website discovers interesting websites to be included... similar to a search engine in a way I suppose). Perhaps an idea in there somewhere.

@buyselldoms , as i wrote in a previous post, i turned down much higher offers than that.
and if i could buy a domain like this registered way back in 1995 for low x.xxx , i would buy all of them in a heartbeat
any other opinions?

@diavo appraisals are not about how much someone is willing to pay. We don't know who your best end-user could be. But we're talking about what the average end-user would pay. Mid XXXX IMO. I'm happy for you that you got a 10K offer; not everyone will offer you that much, considering the many other alternatives people could go with for their businesses.

Good luck, anyway.

Regards,
Ruzeen

Do we win an award if we guess the highest amount you turned down? What's the point of this?

Maybe to make himself feel better about turning down $10K?

@ruzeen, true, thank you
@DU about the award.. i already responded to that in a prev. post: Self-esteem :)
@evirtual1 i have no comments on that one, but thx for contributing to this pot.
@The New Guy , i am sorry that you misunderstood the whole point, i don't feel bad for turning down 10k i would do it again and i have turned down even more, i would not sell it even for mid xx.xxx, but hey.. whatever makes you feel happy :)
@htmlindex and @DU, the domain is not typo for anything is a domain by itself. Short domain will always have this "issue"

Please guys, i did not want to brag or something the purpose is to know what do you think what would be the max i could expect from the domain.
The thing is that i started to develop it , but still if any other appraisals , i will gladly consider them as well .
Thank you

If you won't sell for mid $XX,XXX, then you probably know the amount you would sell for. To save yourself and everybody else time, you might want to just say "someone say my domain is worth (magic dollar figure here) please" to get the answer you want. Because that seems to be what you're fishing for with all these posts.

The only way you're going to find out the max you could expect is to never, ever sell the domain and wait for higher and higher offers to come in. Those are the only 'estimates' that matter. Otherwise you have a bunch of people who aren't going to buy your domain throwing out dollar figures based trends, personal opinions, ideas of what the site might be used for, etc.

But if you get someone saying it's worth $100,000 and use that to confirm your belief that it's worth at least that much, you're going to end up turning down some legitimate mid $XX,XXX offers that might be the highest you'll ever get.

Might be harsh, but I think you turned down a really good offer... $3500 not so good, you might improve by holding out... $10,000... you might regret that. This is the dynamics of this industry... you have value worth what can be appraised (what you are asking for) and then you have the worth what someone might pay for it.

Just because someone purchases a similar domain etc. for a lot of money it doesn't change everything else. Flippa is full of people using past examples of all slightly-remotely-relevant domain sales, some even dating back 15 years... (made up example..) you know because if money.com sold for so much, moneyz.net must be worth similar... completely laughable.

There are so many different reasons why people pay above the "value worth" of a domain (excuse my terminology). This can be from reasons including brand protection, overbid in an auction, tax reasons, world-record attempts, or vanity purchases etc.

One thing I learned many years back as a domainer is offers mean jack until anyone is willing to complete the transaction. So $3500 and $10,000 they are really significantly wide apart... the former seems a serious offer, the $10,000 is a figure plucked out of thin air, despite me saying you should have accepted it, might not have ended in a sale anyhow. Some start low to negotiate higher... but I have come across a few people who have actually put a high offer in I assume to get your attention only to reduce it later. Bizarre.

Anyhow, what I am saying is, just because someone says I will give you $xx,xxx for it, doesn't mean it is the value worth and turning down good offers thinking you will get more can be a disaster. Big businesses do that a lot with rival company values, typically to out price their rivals from wanting to acquire them.

for the 2 guys which have some frustrations with this topic: sorry, i don't want to get into that O_o, but thank you for sharing your opinions.
Although generally you might be right in different scenarios, i believe you are wrong on many levels in this case but i don't have the time neither the drive to prove you so, i should have saw this coming since asking for opinions is a tricky game to play.. so i kinda` my fault..

Time will tell

@diavo you forgot to "at" me, I made the closest estimation with proof of past sales. :P I especially like what you replied to @evirtual1 : "but thx for contributing to this pot." :-D I would buy your name if you accept monthly installments but I need to know the price in PM. I am also interested in finding you a buyer for a 10% commision.
