I was asked to do stuff - and told how to do it, so I did it
The rules for the Discussion forum/s has always been, no live links
mostly because of self promotion and spam, so only way to stop it
no links. Back when you started and this happened we had just cleaned
out about 500 paid spammers

could credit not have been given without a live link? of course it could have.
and seriously, you should have PM'd me or something...

We just went thru that, I copied and pasted the rules. Again, what you posted is not what the rules say. So maybe that's something the new owner can do. Get the mods and the rules on the same page. If you don't want clickable links then say it in the rules. That would be a dumb rule anyway because links are a major component of the internet. And the current rules say it's fine anyway.

What are you even saying. Yes, forums change rules sometimes. Not only do I have my own forum, I mod/have modded some as well, and when rules change, we actually change the rules. Not only 1 mod knows the new rules. What I quoted are the rules here, period. You're basically saying the rules that are here and that I've quoted more than once now, don't mean anything, that you trump them when you feel like it. Are these some super secret rules that nobody is supposed to know about. It's a ridiculous thing you just said.

They are not off topic and since I've seen the removing of posts, I'm copying them all just in case. If somebody spent the amount of money spent here to buy a forum, I'm sure they want to hear the bad and good, get input from members and make improvements if they can. You posting that you would delete such input, yet again demonstrates my point. If it wasn't a problem, it wouldn't be brought up many times, by many different people, at many different places.

Back on topic as you say. The new owner should simply put together a survey and get input from the members here, because forums are nothing without it's members. And the members here would probably be more comfortable and free to express their opinions in such a matter.

Just an idea for the new owner, how about moderators have a 2 year term and are elected to office by popular vote (say voting age is 500 posts or something) Of course rules are rules! But there is also context to consider, I wouldn't vote for a robot blindly following rules and "orders".

Anyway, could be an interesting experiment, I don't think I've seen it done before.

I'd like to nominate Johnname to run for moderator with DU as a running-mate. Oh and I'd always vote for Scorp because I'm pretty sure he can beat me up.

I've always had an issue wit the absurdity of censors here in the US. It used to be that you could say "piss" on TV but "shit" was taboo. Aren't they both bodily wastes? lol Not many ppl use "shit" in these forums so I'll let it slip -- if ppl can say things like "GoDaddy's interface pisses me off," then there really is no sense in banning a line like, "RegFly's been a shit registrar for years." RegFly is shitty, too, just to put that out there lol

But graphic terms relating to sex or genitalia is a definite no-no in non-adult forums.

mis_chiff, the attitude you're displaying on page 10 here is not becoming of a mod. Frankly you are being childish and belittling this user in public. You are a mod here and should be more professional than this.

There is not a rule against posting a live link. In fact, quite the opposite: the rules state to post a link when you're quoting something. IMHO this is a perfect example of the overmoderation that users are complaining about.

Since you've been swearing in this thread and bullying users I feel it's fine to post this here. Go ahead and give me "infraction points" if you must, I don't care.

One way I see in making the forums better would be for more people especially you veterans to post domain appraisals of new users domains. Give honest opinions, tell them ideas. It's hard work, but that's initially what made me fall in love with NP and I think it would help the forum grow. Btw I need to post there more.

No disrespect meant, but I think moderation is a very pertinent issue with the NP purchase. These mods are the faces and voices of NP, and bad moderation creates resentment and makes the forum a lot less fun. IMHO that makes this an important issue regarding the forum sale.

...it is not the staff alone that will benefit from fine-tuning a great forum...the members themselves need to grasp the value of mutual respect as well. It is a two-way street and nothing leads to a better direction than water under the bridge...

I'm the Adult forums Section Leader. I see a lot of appraisal requests in there that go unanswered. Many of these are from new members who make 1 post and never return to post again. These random postings still aren't reason for ppl to not chime in. It'd be better if ppl could give their 2 cents more often, I agree.

I understand what you're saying and really, I agree with you completely that mods more or less represent NP and its image. My beef in this thread is that nothing is being accomplished. Person A says bad things about person B; B defends himself; A shoots back etc. There really is no finality. Aside from that, I think every naysayer of our mods are jaded rule-breakers -- not all but most. I feel like I'm watching Jerry Springer, minus the breasts and balled fists lol

Well Randy you know i love ya but i have to ask you one thing.....you are saying" i see a lot of appraisal requests and they get no answer....well, as the Section Leader, shouldn't it be your responsibility to at least answer them?....but i also agree with your request to stop the mod bashing, maybe we should have a special section called"bash a mod" where unsatisfied people can voice their opinion...i don't know mate but i love the all of the sudden revived activity here on NP due to the sale
