It seems that 3D is going to be the the next must have technology, according to the big brands, they are all launching 3D TVs.

I attempted to find good 3D names but the best domains are already taken, I think in 5 years time or even less, those generic 3D domains will be worth a lot. :imho:

Anyone else registering 3d domains? Do you think they have a future?

I know there are some women in this thread. I would like to know what they think of your idea.

Would you ladies upload topless photos of yourself from multiple angles to bras3d.com so you can "try on" bras?

That is assuming the system would even work. Froy, how are you going to keep the photos of women in perfect perportion with the bras? If the woman took the photo from too far away, the bra that is laied over her photo is going to be too big.

I'll be first in line--NOT!

froy's gotta be a guy or a very flat chested woman.

Clueless and more clueless.

This is too funny to be pissed off about.

This thread gets curiouser and curiouser.

Just go ask Alice.

Definitely ROFLMAO.

This is reminiscent of the scene in the new 3D movie Alice in Wonderland where she states the 6 impossible things she thinks about before breakfast. That was a movie. Wasting time and money on many of these 3D domains is ridiculously real, sorry to say, with an impossible twist to the ending.....for many.

The best 3D names I have seen so far are 3dplayers.com and 3dchannel.com. IMO

The photo would have to be waist to head ratio shots only, Not head to toe. With a photo shop type of app you can fit any body in perfectly. It's happening now with cropping images almost built into most computers. Resize refit and crop the image to the wire frame that would be supplied. When it fits the lines will match up and you are in the virtual fitting room.

I will say like makeover3d.com this idea was not mine It was my lovely darling girl friend. She said it would be a great idea and website if it can be pulled off like you said.

3Dbras Bras3d - doesn't matter how you type it - not a hope in H@ll of
naked boobies getting uploaded for that purpose.

Doesn't matter what a bra looks like TBH - 3d or 4d - hey even 5d..why not ;)
it's HOW IT FEELS... and you can't get that from looking at it from different angles.
Bras look great with boobs in them! and in case you missed the 3d show, I taped it
on my new 3DPlayer - the multi purpose one - I don't have space for 5 3ddiscplayers or
holoplayers... or so on and so on

How do you know what size to make the wire frame? You can't just wrap photos around the same frame since everybody's body is different. The frame would have to be EXACT to try the clothes on virtually.

The only way to do what you are proposing is for people to be scanned in a 360 degree scanning device and upload the 3D model of themselves for you to use as the wire frame.

But I guess you didn't think about stuff like this.

Ya know I don't think that should even be a discussion which goes first,
Bluray3D, or 3DBluray, either way I believe Bluray is a TM. - Not good.

I agree, but my point to mrcurly was it can be called a "3D Player" bluray to me was just an example of the word order.

1000% they will be called bluray 3d players, type in bluray 3d player into google and read results

mrcurly, you need to put those words in google like this.. "bluray 3d players"....to get the accurate phrase results, then it only gets 8 results...dont forget the inverted commas

My first post...be gentle!

Hi,

am dabbling in this 3d domain malarkey and would value opinions from the veterans out there.

Two questions:

I believe that some domains with a 3 in e.g. sh3p.com , p3rn.com, f3lm.com, g3lf.com etc etc... could have potential. Thoughts please.

I also have a portfolio of domains, are they any good? Some are...

d3tvs.com
repair3d.com
3dharrypotter.com
3dstartrek.com
scream3d.com
explain3d.com
gms3d.com
3dprn.com
3dgmr.com
3dgms.com
3disney.com
big3dtvs.com
rugby3d.com
foul3d.com
scor3d.com
3dsportsfan.com
cod3d.com
3dcod.com
lick3d.com

and 150 more similar. I've forwarded them all to go to one site.

How would i proceed. Hang on and wait or advertise/sell?

Thanks for opinions/help in advance.

Cheers,

lubbinit

wow..didnt think my domain would cause such a stir ,lol

I think there may be names like you mention froy, but when you add them all together, they are all just 3D players

I think if someone was going out to buy one and they werent sure they wanted to buy..., they would say they are going to buy a 3D player, not 3d disc player or a 3d holo player

just my opinion, I may be wrong

This thread is quickly becoming less of a discussion and more of a thread for domain spamming.

If you want to advertise domains for sale, do it in the appropriate area.

Final Four Enters 3D Arena
CBS to broadcast 3D games to movie theaters

By Glen Dickson -- Broadcasting & Cable, 3/9/2010 5:12:24 PM
CBS will broadcast the 2010 NCAA Men's Final Four semifinal and national championship basketball games live in 3D after securing a sponsorship deal with set-maker LG Electronics, the network announced March 9.

CBS will use NEP's SS 3D production truck and PACE 3D Fusion cameras to capture the games in 3D, and rely on Cinedigm Digital Cinema Corp. to broadcast the games via satellite to paying customers in up to 100 theaters across the country. Cinedigm has previously broadcast Fox's 3D production of the 2009 BCS National Championship Game and Turner's 3D production of the 2009 NBA All-Star Saturday Night to digital cinemas equipped with Cinedigm receive equipment.

Fans attending the Final Four festivities in Indianapolis also can view the games in 3D on LG's LCD HDTVs at locations throughout Lucas Oil Stadium and at the NCAA's interactive fan event, "Bracket Town refreshed by Coca-Cola Zero."

"Bringing the Men's Final Four to consumers in 3D is a prime example of how LG strives to deliver something better - superior technology combined with an unparalleled viewing experience - for consumers," said Peter Reiner, senior VP of marketing for LG Electronics North America, in a statement. "As the official 3D Sponsor, we are excited to partner with CBS Sports to bring consumers this immersive 3D viewing experience and tap into the passion of college sports fans throughout the country."

"Cinedigm's experience, having brought the 2009 BCS Championship and the 2009 NBA All-Star Saturday Night events to theaters in live 3-D, has shown us that fans who attend will feel as though they have courtside seats," added Cinedigm Chairman and CEO Bud Mayo. "We're proud to work with our technology partner Sensio and with our growing national network of top-quality theaters to help bring fans one step closer to courtside."

The 3D games on Saturday, April 3 (6:00-11:00 PM, ET) and Monday, April 5 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET) will be fully-produced CBS Sports events with CBS College Sports Network announcers Dave Ryan and Steve Lappas calling the action.

CBS' 3D foray with the Final Four is not surprising, as CBS Sports Executive VP of Operations and Engineering Ken Aagaard has been an early supporter of using stereoscopic 3D technology for live sports. As B&C previously reported, Aagaard has been considering for months whether it would be feasible to produce the Final Four or next month's The Masters golf tournament in 3D. Last month Aagaard attended ESPN's test production in late February of a Harlem Globetrotters basketball game in Orlando where it used the same truck and cameras to produce both 3D and 2D broadcasts and as well as the NBA All-Star Game in Dallas, where the NBA captured some 3D footage for later repurposing.
Aagaard has emphasized that networks will need support from set-makers to cover the extra cost of 3D. He said the Final Four production, which will be CBS' first in 3D, wouldn't have been possible without LG's support.

CBS will use five 3D cameras for the Final Four, including a robotic overhead camera on one basket, two handheld cameras under the baskets, and two hard cameras mounted higher up in the arena. The network may use a camera placed at midcourt to present a more conventional view of the game, and it is also considering cutting in some footage from 2D cameras and using new 2D-to-3D conversion technology to present it. Aagaard notes that CBS isn't obligated to run the same commercials as the 2D broadcast, and may insert some special 3D spots into the game.

The Final Four broadcasts will be the first live 3D production experience for both director Mark Grant and producer Ken Mack. CBS will use the college All-Star game this Friday night in Indianapolis as a 3D rehearsal, testing both camera positions and Cinedigm's satellite delivery system.

"It's our first time doing this, and we'll be learning as we go," he said.

How about 3DBluePlayer or 3DBluPlayer. They did not exist a few weeks ago.

Users may drop the "Ray" soon

Let's not forget what the thread is about - it seems to have turned into a massive
"pump my sales in the wrong thread" thread.

Here is the first post again for those just joining us and are confused by some of the posts... ;)

3D Domains - 5 year plan or 5 minute plan

malcarada said:

I think that the whole 3D concept has been alive for quite some time, but is now starting to take shape in view of the recent success of 3D blockbuster movies - Avatar & Alice In Wonderland.

Primarily, the 3D market is commercializing around home theater and electronics. So if you, have a market-specific domain that fits this genre, you may be able to sell your domain for a nice return.

And the Domainer's Timeline - 5 year or 5 minute plan

For most in this thread, I think it's a 5 minute plan. I do think, however, that the market is still about another 6-12 months away from really embracing the whole 3D market.

Put the head out for a second. If you want to re-insert that is fine but it seems every 3d name will sell for $xx,xxx according to a select few.

The experts are just saying the best ones will do good and the others won't.

Why does every 3d go getter use industry news and every product under the sun to smoke screen the facts we are trying to present?

Yes, we see what has happened before and what is happening now.

No.....just because 3d is evolving a little bit here and there.....not every domain is going to do well.

I would love to know more about the domain but it is not worth my time or attention until it sells for that.

Was it Bras3d.com? Similar? Not.

That is what we are trying to say. IF it sells for that price. it won't be any listed in this thread I can pretty much assure you that. A better name? More likely!
