Hi

For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

Is it possible to Glittel the back page not necessarily the writing?

No, I mean Google.

If you put this

site:.tel

in the search box, you will get the number of sites indexed.

Of course, there may be variations depending on locale, and, also, the figure I get could include subdomains.

On the other hand, we should be glad if Google is indexing subdomains. That's a good sign.

;)

That's cool. I made page three with cigarettes.tel. There's only 25 names ahead of me. It looks like I have to try a little harder. :)

An option for those who don't like the .tel web proxy page:

Glittel.com

thats a very nice and brilliant idea, i hope .tel 's Telnic can adopt some similar feature likes the template and all that will help .tel boost.

personally i think they should allow some pictures in the background too like twitter has done, i have never used twitter bu i like their idea

lets say one can be limited to only uploading 2-10 pictures that can be used in background so one can have a more personalized .tel rather similar like a corporate company or a personal one.

i know it might take time to load but guess what people might like it, its not bad to give it a try.

:) good luck to everyone and keep the spirit alive of .tel alot of people have invested their hard earned money into it

Use a hyphen, e.g. foo-bar will be displayed as "Foo Bar".

Definitely :D

The next round of styles will incorporate background tiles and eventually you will be able to use your own styles.

Dot TEL popularity and acceptance

Hello Guyz and Girlz,

Two things need to be implemented on Dot TEL by TELNIC in order to “boost” .tel acceptance and popularity:

1) A way to track traffic: (What's the update on this...from telnic?)

2) An optional way to add advertising if wanted/ and customize the default .tel
page, but keeping a minimum of .tel standards. (Glittel: is something positive.)

What do you guys think?

I would say how far down are those on the list....

immediate things.
please allow for renaming of folders.
please allow more than 100 entries per folder.
(even if only at the first level. eg folder1.domain.tel and folder2.domain.tel)

cheers.

Sponsor A Race. Spread the Word

We're working. Very hard. Lots of jetlag, little sleep, many meetings, lots of product development. The pipe is full and marketing and awareness plans are being made.

Those take time, and could not be undertaken before we launched. Figuring out the optimal multiplatform plans that get the best mix of awareness and call-to-action given a budget is not a one-day thing (except in movies).

Sponsor a Professional Race

Hello Telnic.

I just finished watching the Nascar All-Star Race and it was very exciting from 'start to finish.'

However, one thing that was very apparent to me and millions of other viewers..... that being corporate sponsorship.:bingo:

In fact, I clearly remember 'Office Depot' aka Tony Stewart being the winning brand in victory lane tonight!

Likewise, could sponsoring a racing event, driver help to spread the .TEL brand message world-wide?

Absolutely. These days its big business to become sponsors in professional car racing... Just ask Godaddy!

Were could you start?

Why not approach 'Renaultsport UK' about race sponsorship. And if this is a success, broaden out to a US racing event.

Let me know your thoughts,

The link to page 16 doesn't even display until you are on page 7. You won't be getting any meaningful traffic that far back. What you want is page 1, 2 or 3 for decent keywords. Anything beyond that is for people doing this for beer money.

No internet startup is going to jump head first into an advertising campaign of this cost.

One would also have to question whether or not rednecks would want a communication tool of .tel's nature.

Yeah Thats True, But least now I have something to show the clients, Basically telling them this .tel has none or few ads and its picking up on google, and in time it will be on 1.2.3 after more people advertise. So for £5 a year its a bloody bargain. :)

People buying directory listings from you won't help your ranking. In fact it's likely to have a reverse effect since your links out to content ratio is getting worse.

You'll need good text content (difficult since .tel isn't meant for that) and really good linkbacks if you want pages 1-3 of a good search term.

If I was for whatever reason into .tel and attempting to monetize them, I would buy links from multiple PR5, 6, 7 sites of a related topic. That will boost your PR, but it's going to eat up the profits of paid .tel directories unless you are selling a lot of placements. Which is where the extra revenue streams of doing this from a .com would come in handy.

How will it not help ranking??? you don't even know what the domain is or what I will offer the client.

The client will need to give me

1.Email Address
2.Phone Number
3.Website
4.Content/keyword.
5.Location

With Number 4 it will help out the rank, But only time will tell.

And Back-links is not important to me with this domain. But Thanks for reminding me because I have a another name that needs back-links.

my two cents....once word gets out that tel cards are clean, simple, lightweight pages where you can get contact info... whenever somebody goes searching for a service/person/etc then the .tel should be the natural first choice vs a selection of other tlds that may or may not contain contact info. only trick is, how do you tell your search engine its only contact info you're after vs an article or product around hte same word....... interesting times ahead

hi guys...

what are the current reseller prices for strong dictionary word .tel's

I've made many offer for premium .tel and here is what's the result:

It really depends on witch word, for GEO names like big cities, for short generic, keyword names : over $1000.00

But Most big names are rather not for sale or for sale for over $10,000.00

It's fantastic to see owners asking price so high when you know that it's been launch over 2 month now, I trully believe that premium .tel owners are sitting on gold mine. Just try to reg a premium, it's no more available and that's what make price high for premiums. All you can do is buy on aftermarket (auction, for sale, make offer) at a price where only the seller is king. Some time it's really frustrating, you can't afford the .tel you really want even spending thousand because the seller decided to sell for $10000+ and I sometime say :yell:

Asking prices are always high for new extensions. Asking prices have nothing to do with the actual sale prices. I would caution any .tel investor to not consider the asking prices as an example of expectations for a selling price.

aapl.tel

to the couple of naysayers here, rubadubdub and choir. I am slowly closing in on a page result you stirrers will probably still find issues with. aapl.tel has had almost nothing done regards backlinks etc. just simply filled out the primary page with a few forwarding links, a few days after GA release

"aapl"

now ranking on the 8th page and steadily climbing. (6th and 7th page on some country specific). anyhow, whatever. "aapl" has 3.5 to 3.8 million search results.

cheers
