Spaceship Spaceship
This week, Jamie Zoch of DotWeekly reported that VE Interactive of London had acquired the domain VE.com. The seller was Aron Meydstedt of XF Investments and Heritage Auctions. I reached out to Aron this week to ask about the sale, and whilst he confirmed the domain had sold, the details are subject to a non-disclosure agreement.

Aron did say: “Both sides are happy and it took awhile to get the deal done. Happy to have a two letter name in the hands of an end user.” After selling VE.com, Aron’s portfolio remains impressive, with March.com, XF.com and Tablets.com amongst the names he owns.

Here’s this week’s Top Topics.

What Is Your Focus for Domaining in 2017?

With 2017 fast approaching, one investor has asked what your focus is for next year in domaining. It’s interesting to read the plans of many investors from this discussion, with many looking to develop names, whilst some are refining their buying process or focusing on networking. There’s also a poll within the discussion that currently has over four hundred votes.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday Deals

After Thanksgiving in the USA comes Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Traditionally, many stores both online and offline, offer discounted products and services over these few days, and the domain industry is no different. There are many companies including eNom, Uniregistry and NameCheap who are offering various domain name deals.

Aside from this discussion, we have also published a list of some of the industry’s latest Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals on the NamePros Blog.

What Is Your Favourite New gTLD?

New gTLDs, or new domain extensions, are now commonplace amongst investors. Many investors look on new extensions as a poor investment choice, whilst others see many as being a viable alternative to the .COM. With that in mind, @decode has asked the community to share their favourite new domain extensions.

There are many differing opinions in this discussion, and it’s fascinating to see the various extensions that are favoured by various domainers.

What is Your Oldest Domain Name?

Another question posed to the community this week by @Michael Ehrhardt. Many of the best domains in existence were registered early on by companies or savvy investors, and so most of the five, six or seven figure sales you see are from names registered in the 1980s or 1990s. There are some great domains in this discussion, including the twenty-five year old BPGC.com, posted by @Spade.

The aforementioned Aron Meydstedt (@XF.com) can trump all of those names posted in this conversation, since he is the owner of Symbolics.com; the first and oldest domain name in history. The name was registered in March 1985.

A New Domain Name Scam

This week, @deez007 notified the community of a new domain related scam that has come into circulation. The scam comes via an email, in this case sent by DomainCop.net. The email tells the domain owner that their name is being used to spread malware, before prompting the recipient to download an attached report.

The domain was registered to NameSilo, and was suspended this week after @namesilo confirmed several abuse reports had been filed. These emails may circulate again from another address, so be aware.
