sales Domain Name IT.co.uk Sells For About $242,000

NameSilo
Last month we noticed that two high-worth domain names had transferred ownership, IT.uk and IT.co.uk. We did not know the price of the sale until today, however, when the domain name appeared in the weekly Sedo sales list.

The domain name IT.co.uk sold for 187,200 GBP, approximately $242,000. There was no mention of the domain name IT.uk, but since that name transferred to the same new owner at the same time, we presume the price was for the package deal. The sale date is actually listed as June 17, 2020, but was not announced until today.

The domain name IT.co.uk was first registered on Jan 1, 1996. At time of writing, the domain name was not resolving to a website. The new registrant owner is UK Intis Telecom LTD according to information provided through a search on the DomainIQ service.

New Owner

The new owner is UK Intis Telecom Ltd. They currently operate from the website intistele.com. Intis Telecom provide global SMS messaging services using a web-based interface and gateway API, primarily for businesses and organizations.

Intis Telecom is a privately held company. According to Crunchbase the company was founded by Andrey Insarov in 2010. They have offices in London, New York, Vilnius and Moscow.

At time of writing there was no mention of the new name on the company website or in its Twitter feed

Seller

As far as I know, the seller has not been announced, but the domain name was managed in the portfolio of Netbrand not long ago. Netbrand has been in business for 21 years, helping clients secure premium domain names, primarily for the UK market.

According to their website,
We have brokered such exclusive names as kids.co.uk, map.co.uk, xxx.co.uk, mum.co.uk, dad.co.uk, fresh.co.uk, curry.co.uk, britain.co.uk, url.co.uk, united.co.uk and even hotmail.co.uk.

How Sale Ranks

When the sale gets listed in NameBio, it will become the 10th highest .co.uk sale of all time. The highest sales ever were the pair cruises.co.uk and cruise.co.uk, which sold for just over one million GBP each in a private sale in February 2008.

Here is the full list of high-value .co.uk sales listed on NameBio. This will become the highest value NameBio-listed .co.uk sale since 2016, when furniture.co.uk sold for $650,000, also at Sedo. This is the largest sale in .co.uk in 2020, although Domain Booth sold free.co.uk for $205,000 in March 2020.

This will become the highest-value country-code domain sale so far in 2020. NameBio currently shows four sales above $100,000 in country-code extensions in 2020.

As noted in my recent article on high-value sales of 2020, country-code domain names are having a strong year, and this sale will build on that momentum.

If readers have additional details on the sale, or other high-value country-code sales in 2020, please feel free to add them in the contents.

Thanks to several unnamed sources for information contributing to this report, and to data provided by Sedo, NameBio, Crunchbase and DomainIQ.

two-letter domain name under a top-performing ccTLD - .co.uk. And, a tech-related. Seems like a fair deal.

agree that country-code domain names are having a strong year, and this sale will build on that momentum.

I looked at 2 letters (no hyphen, no number) sales at namebio for ccTLDs and found this one leading tv.se 265,149 USD 2015-01-22 (,se - Sweden). This one goes second.

thanks for sharing.

CONFIRMATION: Mark Baker has now confirmed via social media the sale of the pair of names through Netbrand. He also revealed that it was Brian Michitti who handled the transaction at Sedo. Congratulations to all involved!

Nice to see that they took the .UK as well, unlike the buyer of free.co.uk

Thanks and congratulations on your 50th post Bob!
Thanks @CraigD! Until you posted it, I had not realized that it was the 50th! It seems in some ways both fewer and more than that :xf.eek:. Maybe I will for the 100th do something appropriate like a post called "100 mistakes I have made in domain investing!" :xf.wink:

Seriously I am appreciative to NamePros for this opportunity, and to all of you for being so supportive in many different ways. What an amazing online community that we have in NamePros.

Take care and have a good day everyone.

Bob

When Bob does a write up, I don’t think that many people go into so much detail as to what Bob does. And also gives credit/thanks when credit/thanks is due. Another wonderful article.

I also noticed that this is your 50th blog post here on NP! Congratulations @Bob Hawkes on a great milestone! Well done. When my Parents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary a few years ago, they receive a signed certification from our PM at the time so....... Keep checking your mail! :xf.grin:

I just realized that someone else already beat me to it congratulating you on your 50th! Well congrats again. :)

Congratulations on your 50th!

You do have the writer's gift of taking detailed and at times complex data ( numbers ) and presenting same in a readable and understandable dialogue.

Thanks Bob!
