Mine:

HeatingFuel.org

I think the net sold recent at auction for over $1,000 and is reg to Frank Schilling (I think) or his business name. This org name was dropped after 6 years according domain tools. Since I run woodpelletfuel.org with great serp's this can make a good addition. I find it boring though.

worst thing about trying to catch drops is that you're always racing to beat some imaginary 'other fella,' so you don't feel you have time to carefully weigh and consider. (actually, i guess the worst thing is that the best names have been plucked by the time they get to where i can get them, but i digress.)

i regged 96-7.com today.

a number of fm radio stations have that frequency and use the keyword in marketing. the adwords keyword tool says it gets 2,900 global searches monthly. and it has 1,920,000 search results.

is it a good reg? well, it is if one of the radio stations want it. if not, well, it's short. i can find something to do with it.

I reckon you have done alright with that domain. :)

thanks, jag. i agree that i probably won't get burnt too badly on this one.

got one more. couldn't resist.

i-Skateboard.com

every variation of this keyword that i checked was registered in dot com (including typos) except for this one. i checked them both with the 'i' and 'e' prefix and without. some of them are developed sites. this domain apparently was first registered in 2003 and dropped back in june, i believe.

i think it's alright. 'skateboard' has 16.3 million search results. 'skateboard' is searched 823,000 times monthly on Google globally and 201,000 times in the US.

the comparables don't look too shabby, either. i-brochure(.)com sold for $2,700 last month.

gonna sleep on it in a little bit, but i'm going to bed thinking i got a little lucky with this one.

BusinessMarketing//////.co.in

Hi all,

I reg'd this today: BusinessMarketing//.co.in. Virtually all other extensions gone.

I'm quite happy with it too, considering India's role in business today. Comments are welcome!

Bye,

Matt

Today I registered commuter-rail.com

I know they say you should avoid hyphens, but commuterrail.com is already taken and it looks confusing with the two r's touching each other.

According to the Google Adwords Tool, the Broad search for "commuter rail" was 246,000 and 9,900 for exact.. I think the name will become even more popular b/c I know firsthand major cities are trying to use commuter rail to help clear up highly congestive traffic that is only getting worse. I learned this b/c it was a main project during one of my internships :gn:

President Obama has even provided stimulus money to have them built, so we'll see..

Nice snag. Good platform for "big idea" development.

As a search term, the two aren't in the same universe.
One (commuter rail) addresses the "system" itself (and gets in the 9900 range of exact searches) while the other addresses the "person" doing the commuting and has essentially no volume.

There are a number of reasons a person might be searching for "commuter rail" related information, but very little reason to search "rail commuter", unless one thinks that discussion of ones daily commute is interesting enough to sustain a forum of some kind.

RailCommuter could logically work as a brand platform or as some sort of mass transit advocacy site (it would actually be quite nice for that) but as a search term, one is a Ford truck while the other is a rusty little reg wagon with three broken wheels

Well put Dongsman, I just gave rep for the first time ever!

As for now I have it on Sedo, but this one might be worth developing as an information resource. I just need to find the time to develop all of my ideas!

I already have a 10-page report on commuter rail that I had to write for school, so I might be able to break it down and use it for content.
