Hello,

The reason that I want to start this thread is because I hear so many differant views on what is a TRUE Google Page Rank.

Here are a couple things that I have noticed and what I believe.

First off, what I think is the best way to tell if a domain has a True PR is SeoLogs.com and if the domain is indexed at google, but there are times when you use the tools at SeoLogs.com and it says it can not verify the PR.... So then what?

Example of a domain that I own.

www.bouvandfriends.us

SeoLogs.com says it can not verify it.

Google Toolbar say's it's a PR 4 !

I guess you would have to think that google's toolbar say's it's a PR4 then you would have to think it is! Yes or No

The only way google's toolbar would be wrong is if it redirected, but SeoLogs.com picks that up.

Example

www.freshmanorientation.org

Google's toolbar says it's a PR7 but SeoLogs.com picks up the redirect as TheFire.org but shows it as a PR6

There are many other PR checkers

http://www.prchecker.info/check_page_rank.php

Still an example of freshmanorientation.org . If you type that in to this one, freshmanorientation.org it comes up with PR7. If you type in www.freshmanorientation.org it comes up as PR0

http://www.i4market.com/tools/rankcheck.html

Still an example of freshmanorientation.org . If you type that in to this one, freshmanorientation.org it comes up with PR6. If you type in www.freshmanorientation.org it comes up as PR0 but it says to type it in with Out the www.

http://livepr.raketforskning.com/

Still an example of freshmanorientation.org . If you type that in to this one, freshmanorientation.org it comes up with PR6. If you type in www.freshmanorientation.org it comes up as PR0

http://www.checkpagerank.com/

Same results as above.

http://www.seochat.com/seo-tools/future-pagerank/

Same as above.

Now here's a domain that's a PR6

www.crashonlaunch.org

They all show it's a pr 6 no matter what way you type it in.

So my big question is, if you take out all the PR checkers stated above, because none of them are run by google, why google's toolbar would show a fake PR if you know it's not redirected. I mean it is googles system and they should be the ones that know?

Please list your thoughts.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

Google has many data centers, each one is independent and can show different PR depending on what data center you happen to access with your browser at any given time. Most of the PR checkers only query one data center. This would account for the variations in PR.

Also Google will assume www.domain.com and domain.com (without the www) as different pages and different PR.

For what its its worth, I would discount PR as a value in any appraisal of a domain or site.

Just my 2 pennys worth.

So this Multiple Data center checker should help with that problem

I still do not think that google pr should just be pushed under the rug. It is a good indicator of a previous site that had good content and was getting some traffic as well. I have seen many domains sell on pr alone with some links for some nice $$$

If there was just a way to REALLY tell what is a true PR!!!!!!

Anybody else???
