Hi! I've been discussing with friends about the "clickalike" domains for a while and some people find it's woth nothing 'cos no type-in, but other think it's a good tool to drive traffic to your website. Theere was recently an article on DT blog on it (http://blog.domaintools.com/2007/10/click-a-like-domains-and-google-adwords/)
and ClickaLike.com said in its press release:
”Click through traffic appears analagous to direct navigation or “type-in” traffic. Whether they type a domain into a web browser or click on a hyperlink, it is clear that web surfers assume the most credible and direct path to what they are looking for is via a generic term domain"

“We started hearing this from SEO’s and Pay-Per-Click managers right away and we knew we had something. It’s a great way for small businesses to boost their advertising power. For minimal cost, they can use familiar-looking domain names in their advertising copy, online press releases and pay-per-click ads and forward consumers to their primary website.”

I've been seing a lot of regged lookalike domains like: ltaly.com, lndia.com, and others (all wih L and not I). What's your opinion guys about it? Are these domains worth something? Are they going to be valuable in the future?

Thanks for your opinion! :)

The only value these domain names have is if they receive traffic. Beyond that, I wouldnt consider buying one at aftermarket and I cant imagine a business would see much value in this classification of domain name. I think its a complete waste.

Thanks for your feedback Spade! I've decided to reg one of these that I've found quite nice, and now I'm wondering how to use it.
I see most of them are parked: GoIf, ShoppingMaII, lnsurance (avec L)...
Does anyone here has a look-a-like domain? And how do you use it? Any ideas, examples would be appreciated.
Thanks!

well, it depends on the name too...

If it was lnd.com (L, not i) as a look alike of ind.com, then yes, go ahead and buy it :p

wasn't there the Lraq.com fiasco where someone bid 30k thinking it was iraq.com?
