I just logged into my TrafficClub account today and saw this new announcement (I'm glad to see something is being done):
Nov 2, 2006 - Turkish & Iranian traffic: As of today, we are blocking all traffic originating from the countries of Turkey and Iran. Visitors to your domains from these countries will see a blank webpage. Visitors from other countries will be unaffected.
TrafficClub has chosen to take the unusual step of blocking traffic from these countries in order to put a quick end to the growing problems of fraudulent activities originating from these countries. This should also serve as warning to anyone considering or currently partipating in any type of click fraud. TrafficClub will take whatever action is necessary to protect the integrity of the services provided by ourselves and our partners, as well as the online advertisers who are the core of this industry.
One of the growing problems within the parking industry are "Paid to Read" programs, where users are paid to read & click on ads. Rumors are that television commercials have been run in foreign countries promoting these services as a way to make money. These type of programs are springing up like weeds in an attempt to generate clicks to parked websites. Obviously this type of traffic is fraudulent and accounts participating in such activities will be cancelled. Payments to TrafficClub from our partners are now being adjusted to account for the this bad traffic, and those adjustments will be passed on to customers participating in these fraudlent activities.
To be absolutely clear, any type of fraudulent activities such as this hurt all of us with legitimate traffic. The more fraudulent traffic that advertisers pay for, the more they will lower the bid prices they are willing to spend - which in turn hurts all of us with legitimate traffic. TrafficClub reserves the right to cancel any accounts associated with fraudulent activities, and to adjust payments due to those customers sending fraudulent traffic as necessary.
If you are confident that you receive legitimate traffic from Turkey or Iran in some significant amount, please contact us and tell us which domains receive the traffic. If you can justify to us that our decision to block all Turkish traffic is affecting your legitimate earnings, we may be persuaded to "whitelist" your domain and allow your turkish and/or Iranian traffic for that specific domain only.
The reality is that there is essentially no legitimate revenue generating traffic originating from these countries, therefore this will likely not adversely affect your TrafficClb account or revenues. If you have any concens or questions, please contact [email protected].
