The first domain I registered was in 1993. It occured to me then that domains might be valuable someday, but I was pre-occupied pushing the research envelope and didn't have time nor money to buy LLL's.

Now I haven't hand reg'd a domain for awhile, but today I did...and felt the rush :xf.wink:

My first domain was a country name in Africa but it no longer exists....
Bophuthatswana.com
I hand regged it at Network Solutions in late 90's when I was about 12 years old, I found it through viewing the dial code of all countries from an expired local yellow pages phone book, and I dropped it one year later when I realized that the country was gone forever.

I now own 4~5 country .com names and luckily they all still exists.

My first domain was something like "freeispprovider.com" working for Going Platinum that didnt last long with some MLM business. Getting paid to buy click and such. Then I got hold of casinospill.com that I made into a small site of 3 pages , static, making me a $1000 per month residual income for a year til I promoted it too much putting posters on car windows and had to take the site down. How dumb I was that time, could easy buy some good domains and make more casino small pages and Id be rich.

HotWebSpot.com back in 2003 industry was my first hand reg. I was developing it to be a social networking site starting with pubs and bars... then I thought the whole "social networking thing" would never last and canceled project. I was a poor college student and tried to get my money back and stumbled on the domain industry. What a ride it's been!

A Meta domain was one of your first? Coincidence considering the times

gwapito.com - now a personal blog, mostly politics.

I got it after I won a logo design contest. Told the contest holder to buy me a domain, since there was no Paypal yet in the Philippines in 2002.

Gwapito means "cute" in Spanish, but the spelling it Filipinized.

It would make sense considering his NP join date, were it to coincide with his start into domaining. A month or so ago it was almost meta-touche here. A la;

Veteran: "Why did you register a meta domain?"
Newbie: "Well all I saw on here was meta threads when I joined."
Veteran: "Touche. There has been a bit of a trend."
Newbie: "Hmm, hey about meta-touche.com?"
Veteran: "Go for it, you can even start a meta hyphen thread."
Newbie: "Touche back at you."

Mine was even misspelled: TastyKetoRecipies.com.

I thought I would make millions selling keto diet programs through affiliate marketing with a simple website on that domain. I then realized that the name was misspelled so I regged TastyKetos.com.

My hopes of becoming a billionaire through this process vanished very quickly so I let the domains expire along with my dreams :xf.cry:

Hot on the tails of Business.com selling for $12M.
