Your Experiences With GoDaddy Backorders.

I wanted to place a couple of backorders with GoDaddy for names that I wouldn't want to pay the $60 Snapnames fee.

However, GoDaddy requires payment upfront, and from what I've known, there is no guarantee of a successful backorder.

What would you guys suggest? Should I take the risk with GoDaddy backorders or rely on Snap (and pay the $60 fee)?

If you are serious about getting a domain you should be using Snapnames.com or Pool.com. $60 is nothing!

In most cases Snap and Pool have deals with Registrars which have domains dropping from their systems and are PASSED ON for sale in these types of auctions. Godaddy backorders uses a different method of getting it's names to sell... it literally waits until the name is free and tries to register it like anyone else. However, so do Snap and Pool, who usually are able to catch the domains before anyone else.

Some say that some high quality .INFO and .BIZ names have a good chance of being captured by the Godaddy service... but Ive never had a domain of any quality caught by them.

So in conclusion, Snap and Pool are alot more effective at getting the domains that they list on their websites, because the deal is already sealed; from there it is a case of deepest pockets!

If GoDaddy is good with .info names, then that might be good, since I need backorder some .infos.

I still use Snap for .coms, but there are sometimes so many good names dropping (especially LLLL.coms) that I can't afford the minimum $60 for all of them.

But I'll try GoDaddy once. If I'm successful, then I might try them again!

I tried GoDaddy backorders a few times and it always fail to get any. Of course, the domains were good random one's but not premium or hot.

Snap is better than pool since pool also failed to get any of my backordered domains. Actually snapnames always grap the domain I want so its worth the fee.

If you are going to be backordering a lot you would be better off joining BlueRazor.com for $9.95 a year.

BlueRazor is a discount division of GoDaddy.

Backorders are $12.95 each which is less than GoDaddy direct charges.

If a backorder is not successful let it ride for a week or so. Sometimes
a Domain Taster will grab an expiring domain then drop it in 4 or 5 days.

BlueRazor or GoDaddy may be able to grab it then since it is being
monitored and being randomly dropped.

This has worked for me several times.

You can always replace your backordered domain with a different one.

If a catch is not successful just put in a different domain and you won't have to pay again.

Then GoDaddy is good at picking it up. Otherwise backorder at SnapNames and Pool where you don't have to pay upfront. Only if you are successful winning the name.

Of course you are right about GoDaddy's lack of success in drop catching but
if you read the original posting sashas does not want to pay the $60 fee
to SnapNames or Pool.

Using GoDaddy or BlueRazor is better than nothing. If a Taster drops a domain sashas will not know but GoDaddy or BlueRazor will and may be
able to grab the domain.

I was lucky enough to pick up NicheWebsiteDirectory.com on a Godaddy backorder. One time is luck, 2 times means it actually works.
