Nice one! And a category killer too!kettlebell (dot) com
But I can always hope as an optimist for common sense and logic!@Bob Hawkes Sadly common sense, logic and reality is not to be expected here.
Thanks man! I also have the plural.Nice one! And a category killer too!
I agree that the fundamentals behind a "true" EMD are fluid, so in a sense, it's always open to debate.I did find this definition of category killer domain name according to @EJS in a column about category killer, so i think my attempt earlier in the thread, was a bit off, and indeed the term is a bit more general than I had thought.
“category killer domain name is a domain name that creates a distinct competitive advantage for a company that is in, or that wishes to enter a specific industry, where that term defines the industry or a specific sector within the industry.”I feel a bit better that someone even as experienced and wise as Elliot actually changed his mind whether a name was category killer, showing that the concept is not easy.
I also found a column that @Rick Schwartz did on defining category killer domain names (back in 2012) and I like his operational way of defining it (although as printed yellow pages get a thing of past maybe needs some other equivalent).
"Pick up a big, old thick yellow pages and see if your domain name is an EXACT match with a category heading. If it is, you own a category killer domain name."I also stumbled upon this in @bmugford website that has a section on category killer domain names, and seeing the great examples listed are helpful.
I realize that @Mary Muse required that names listed here by in .com only. I wonder is there also the expectation that they be English only? I like the example of scooter in Spanish that @Reddstagg gave if we are to extend it to other languages.
But I can always hope as an optimist for common sense and logic! But I do see as you say, in some of the responses, that people are in essence interpreting it as premium rather than the more narrow way I was thinking of it.
I still think I personally have no real category killer domain name in .com currently.
