Hey guys,

Let's say you have accumulated $1000 in domain sales that you want to reinvest (I'm not in this position yet). This is a relatively small value but still enough to do something.

What would you do with it?
What domain(s) would you buy?

Interested in seeing different strategies from NPers.

If you've done well enough to accumulate $1000 net profit then you must be doing something right. You will only learn more as time goes by and therefore hopefully improve your performance. If it were me I would keep following the formula for success, especially if you are reinvesting and increasing your portfolio of (hopefully) good names at an exponential rate.

That is a very good practice to reinvest only profit. That way it covers you from losing much. As for where i will invest my profit, i have a list of domains by priority ready. As soon as i get money i buy domains on my list. Though this way i lose many nice names but at least i am assured i am in no loss.

Buy only one 1 domain.

I agree with the others, only reinvest your profit, this way you will not lose any money.

If it was me, I would look at the trends, now that is when the heavy debate comes, for some the future will be 3D domains for others it will be green energy domains and for others it will be farming domains, that is the tricky part, accurately guessing where the next domain wealth will be.

Once you have worked out where the money is moving to, then identify the keywords that would better suit that trend and snap them.

And spread out your investment unless you own a crystal ball too. i.e dont invest everything on a single niche.

Buy only one 1 domain.
I will not put all my eggs in one basket, I will buy at least 20-40 Domains, some domains may make profits you don't expected, it happens with me.
Good luck

After domaining so long, I came to conclusion use domaining knowledge to build a site.

Buy a very good domain on a subject that you know very well. This way, if you do nothing, at least the domain will keep it's generic value over time. Also you have always the option to develop. At the end it's a subject you know very well, or hopefully, you are an expert on.

After many years of domaining what I came to realise is that, one should spend his time on things he likes. So if I like an artist, it is a good idea to build a fansite. If I have some hobbies I can also consider building sites on those fields.

Generally speaking, I agree with the one domain idea. I too would buy a single domain, probably from a snapnames or namejet auction. If there is no special subject you are interested in, you can always consider CVCV or VCVC type domains.

A few days ago efom.com sold for $303.00 on a snapnames auction. If I had some extra money I would buy domains like this.

Always invest in quality - not quantity.

I'm for the one - or possibly two - higher quality domains, with that money.

Essentially, on a higher value domain (if you choose well), a small % movement in upward value translates into much more $$$'s, than the same % upward value movement across low value names.

And, when a higher value domain moves in value, it can move a long way, very fast. Whereas, lower value domains may not move in value at all...

Essentially, too, there tends to be a resale market for better quality, descriptive, names - whereas, there is often NO market at all for lower quality names....ie less risk.

Golden rule: Invest in quality.
