Y2K (org, net... etc)

Would like to know what everyone thinks a good price for these are. (I don't own them, They're all taken) but just curious! B-)

Let's add that they are not developed. JUST the name... What do you guys and gals think?

If you owned one of these, and decide to launch a business using the name, then you'll be several steps ahead in the name-recall aspect. So they would have a fair amount of value, IMHO.

Got a ballpark? :$:

Kindof wanting some actual prices. Sorry. ;)
I think developing any site makes it worth more. So I agree with you there.

If I owned Y2K.net and Y2k.org, I'd ask $4,000 and $1,600 respectively. But if I were buying (and I had the budget for it), then I'd probably offer a fourth of those amounts.

Do you actually have access to these domains, or is all this hypothetical?

Hypothetical... I WISHED I had access to them! hehe.

What about .com? Any difference maybe?

Just curious as to what Y2K (all ext..) may go for.
Thanks for your reply!

I'd peg them in the $5K range each for the .net and .org domains. Even though outdated, this is a term still engrained in minds of most the world.

Just wondering...as the .org was pending transfer.

I own TheYear2000.com but it got butchered pretty good here at NP (no hard feelings :hehe: ).

Y2K

Circa 1998-1999 Y2K.com was heavily promoted at AN, GD and Ebay. It was said to have received several real offers from 1 million to 5 million $ due to the expected major Y2K problems starting in 2000.

I recall there was an active website at the time with thousands of links to it. The site had immense free publicity in the media.

The owner rejected those million $ offers saying he wanted 10 million $ from what I remember at the time.

He never got it and once Y2K fizzled out into a big nothing the buyers left and it's value disappeared the first week of Jan 2000.

Last time I heard he was offereing it for several thousand $ merely as a 3 character .com with some remaining links. In fact, I think he offered it to me (but my memory on the offer may be wrong) for a few thousand $ approx 2001. The net and org will be worth much less, perhaps a few hundred $ mostly for their novelty value.
