Wondering what everyone thinks the general differences in listing prices between com, net, org.

How popular is the org extension. Reported sales are not very high for this extension. Will the dot org die someday and what do you think would take its place.

Listing price is a tough one because the .com could be overpriced. But the actual selling price of .net is often around 10% of the .com's previous sale.

COM/NET/ORG are not going anywhere. These are the Big 3 and have grown organically with the internet.
They have widespread usage, awareness, and credibility.

Many brands have far more value in .COM which does not translate to NET/ORG.

.ORG is better for keywords that fit as well. For instance a term like Forklifts is going to be a way better fit in .NET than .ORG, and therefore be worth a lot more in .NET.

There is no magic formula for pricing. When it comes to pricing it depends on the term.

as Brad said actually there's no rule
but generalizing it a .net is 1/10th of .com at best (for top-notch keywords)

thanks for the advice. it will help allot. so could you take a phrase such as oilindustry and use it in all three? i think it would work. it could be a company name.
