I searched out all the threads and there isn't an officially designated .xyz thread so how about this one to cover the subject?

So to start off my first xyz reg is:

SH3.xyz
:xf.grin:

Sh stands for Shanghai

May have little value if any but I like short domains as possible that I can get in new extensions and with majority of numbers taken I figured why not for the low reg fee right now. Plus it sorry of rhymes.

This is a little crazy guys. I anticipated this but it feels unreal to actually happen.

For the record, there was a 10,000 .xyz registration spike the day Google announced abc.xyz

But there were over 200,000 .xyz domain names registered this weekend alone.

What happened?

Yeah, damn, last update - + 131,375

$2 and under at 9 registrars now, seems like it keeps growing, Godaddy 99 cents - https://namestat.org/xyz

When you're practically giving them away, high regs. Expected. Sales on the other hand, different story. keyword.xyz, doesn't seem like much action. Not many in this thread talking about any of their sales. Just reg numbers all day long as if they own/work for registry/registrar.

Anybody getting sales? Ones you'll actually post specifics about?

But you must admit there was the day you said they'd never stay at 1m, most would drop. Now it's 2m, whats your prediction moving forward now? ;)

My prediction is that those $1 and $2 domains won't renew at a high rate and being $1 and $2 away from a freebie domain is not something I would invest in. I would be pretty mad at what's going on if I had any money invested in them with the continual low pricing.

Do you think the cheap regs accounts for - "keyword.xyz, doesn't seem like much action" or what would you put that on. It's been over a year and half, right?

This is something recent, 9 premium keywords, 5 of them being states for just under $57 a pop:

It's called supply and demand. The less available the bigger the demand, let's talk again at 3m.

I could debate, break down your reply further but I won't moving forward with anyone that can't see beyond .com like yourself. :P

One other thing you like to talk about sales, I've never seen one .com sale of yours listed at NP for everyone to see since I joined in 2014. ;)

I have gotten a few sales in the Namecheap marketplace. Nothing very noteworthy. I think $10 was my largest. All of the sales were Chinese type domains (not Chips). Still, it's a nice feeling to make a sale.

And, when I compare .online to .xyz, renewal fee screams out at me. Isn't .online about 3X the cost of renewing? Come renewal time, I'd rather renew 3 of my xyz to an online. (I don't have any .online and I like .xyz, so my opinion is biased.)

You guys haven't just drank the Kool-Aid. You've bought all the Kool-Aid stock. Unfortunately for you, Kool-Aid is no longer cool in a couple years.

CCC: abt 8,580 available (18.3%)

FEB 7:
LLLL: abt 154,700 available (33.8%)

It has been about (or exactly) 1 day since I posted this. Since then, 25,562 LLLLs have been registered.

I don't think so just due to some of the crazy pricing for a .online.

Looking at anything decent in xyz pricing is similar at a couple of thou upwards.

Sure pricing has increased due to demand and less supply. When it first launched you could reg some really great domains at normal pricing, with the exception of many that went to auction before GA but even then it wasn't that hard to get great domains at a decent price.

I agree if you want something good xyz now you're going to pay for it, this will only increase as time moves forward. The issue I had with .online was their pricing was outrageous when the gates opened but all new extensions are nowadays so no surprise.

The same will happen with .web, it will be overpriced and or a massive holding by they registry of good names. I was surprised to see .xyz take their remaining reserved domains and sell/list them at massive yearly fees but I guess they looked at what the others were doing and followed suite.

I don't dislike .online, I have some but everything has changed from when .xyz first launched. Example: I got drugs.xyz, won at auction in 2014 and it's at normal yearly reg fee. I just checked drug.xyz at GD and it's $1,300.00 per year to own that one. :)

Drugs is a much better keyword than Drug so that shows when they launched they didn't overprice their names like others are doing now.

Registering pinyin is a precarious undertaking unless you are fluent in Mandarin/Cantonese and have a strong understanding of the western alphabet interpretations . Google translate is all but useless - although it is possible to get lucky on the few occasions the translation is accurate.

I can't say if the names you registered are good or bad and I genuinely hope you have some good ones.

So here's what I did to get some pinyin in xyz. I bought some for $1.88 and have no idea what it means.

I went to 4.cn, to the section that has pinyin domains for sale. Copied all the com's and .cn's that had the most views and ran the names through a bulk checker, looking for available .xyz names. Then registered a few.

Be careful of buying CCCCC.xyz domains ... CCCCC.com isn't even really that popular so match it to the extension xyz and it won't work unless the pattern is prime.
