I think anybody who knows what there doing in domains uses an email address not hooked to there name or domain names as the first thing we all do is search there email address as soon as they email

It's a domainer method, yes. End users are not usually as strategic, from my experience anyway, which is why I am assuming it was a domainer (in addition to the kind of response I got), but there are end users who are experienced at buying who would do that sort of thing as well. Never know!
