Hey guys!
I got an email yesterday from someone who wants to buy one of my domains.
He got to me by the voodoo landing page, and the offer was straight forward, $2K (USD).

Domain name -

ⓓⓞⓝⓣⓞⓟⓔⓝ.ⓒⓞⓜ

I'm not hungry for bread, hence my question -
Being in my shoes... Would you sell it or keep it?
Is that estimation right on spot or way off track?

Cheers fella's

:kickass:

I would've taken that offer in a heartbeat! Honestly, if I saw that name availble to reg, I wouldn't have even paid the $8 to reg it, but that's just me....

Kamikaze, I think for domains like that it's best to take a nice profit and move on to the next. You can put it towards one killer name, or many similar names in hopes they bring similar ROI. ;)

If you have registered this domain in $10 something then you must sell this in this price..... as it would be good money for your domain name business now.

Well guys, there's a sad update to the story -
I had some problems and I had to format my PC...
All emails between me and that guy went down the drain :\
I sure will update you all if he'll reply my last email,
And I will close this deal... @Rich, you are damn right!

Do you not have copies of emails on your email server? I am assuming you are using your own domain for your email as that's the only way I can imagine you could lose all your emails from your computer.

Hopefully they'll be sitting, waiting for you :)

Unfortunately, the setup on my servers is "delete after download".
What can I say :\ I will just have to wait and see if he'll reply... HA!

@Trader, I haven't lost anything. My PC was formatted.
All email conversations between me and him are gone...
If he'll reply later on - we'll see what can be done -
Until then, it's just waiting game. yes-yes, no-no. NP.

Short, friendly, and professional:
That's the magic triangle for closing end user sales. And I mean REAL short. For future reference, whenever you receive an offer and it's less than you want, the following statement is ideal for continuing healthy negotiations:

Hello _______;
Thank you, that is a good offer, just a little less than I wanted.
Looking for $5K for this domain.
Thanks again for contacting me.
Sincerely,
_____________

No explanations, nothing uncomfortable. Guaranteed to keep negotiations fluid and active. If they counter, or hard line their original offer, keep your responses this short, open, honest and polite. Never enter the game of 'explaining' things, debating, or even worse, arguing and justifying. Ever.

Even if they hard line their offer, just respond 'Thank you, I can tell you're serious, but I can't accept the amount you're offering. Thanks again'.

- Keep thanking them, because they are an interested buyer and even if they're lowballing you, they're still making a serious offer. Be thankful for each email from them no matter how lowball. And if they become unpleasant or insistent... don't use that as an excuse to lose yourself and forget the magic triangle of 'short, friendly and professional'. Stick to it with every email

IMHO :)

I fully agree with your advice and I think this is particularly important when you are dealing with a potential buyer that you contacted first. "Any" misstep on your answer and you might lose the deal. I make this distinction because when someone contacts you first, that contact is generally the result of a thought process in which they have analyzed the benefits of owning the domain. When you are the one contacting the end-user, there is usually the possibility that they are not fully convinced or aware of the value of taking possession of the name. But, again, you are absolutely correct.

Little of topic, but all my hotmail emails, go to a gmail adresse as well so i have two copies of everything but dont have to worry unless gmail and hotmail both go down. As for the name, imo and financial situation,I would counter with 3,500 and offer to pay for escrow fees. I dont know alot about sales but did sell 2 domains last week mid xxx. Great way to negotiate Bannen, nice and courteous.Best of luck to you op and everyone else as well
Cheers, eh
