Hey guys!
I got an email yesterday from someone who wants to buy one of my domains.
He got to me by the voodoo landing page, and the offer was straight forward, $2K (USD).

Domain name -

ⓓⓞⓝⓣⓞⓟⓔⓝ.ⓒⓞⓜ

I'm not hungry for bread, hence my question -
Being in my shoes... Would you sell it or keep it?
Is that estimation right on spot or way off track?

Cheers fella's

:kickass:

Dont ever ever sell the domain directly through Paypal. Too risky.

Offer 3k since you transact it through escrow.

I got a reply from this guy...
Apparently he didn't understand what I want from him :\
I, once again, replied kindly and thankfully and explained the situation.
Will see where the wind blows later on. I'll sure keep you guys posted!

Your potential buyer has a lot of patience.
If I received such a seemingly hostile reply/counter offer, I would've stopped further communication.
Good luck though. I hope you get a sale.

@Steven... "hostile"? where have you seen something hostile?
He could stop the negotiation right there, I have no problem with that.
But he DID reply and we're in the middle of negotiation right now, so...

@Trader, all humans are my brothers also.
I don't care where they come from and what's their religion or political views.
Thank you for your kind reply, and I sure hope it will end in a sale of that dn ;)

Sell and reinvest in premium LLLL.com maybe

I really hope you are going to sell it for more than $2K or at all, if that happens it wont be because of your reply but because of the "seller" desire to get it.

Never get emotional in a reply about domain, never give any color on them. Let them come to you and reply almost like a machine would.

Your answer shouldnt be more than 2 sentences.

Thats what I do and I get a sale every now and then. Of course there is a great chance you sell more than me, in that case this advice could be worthless.

@Makis, thanks my friend...
I will do so and keep my cards close to my chest.
I just once tried this "thankful" reply, which is this time.
Normally I do reply something general and very fade,
Letting them make the next move UP and increase their $$$.

@lll - I thought to invest in LLL and not in LLLL.
Yes, it's more to put in. but on the long run, it's better.
What do you think? am I right or would you say something else?

I am not sure I would use the word "hostile", but IMO your reply has some issues which I will point out -

Hello XXXX!
Thank you for kind your offer, but I will decline it and I'll tell you why -
The owner of the domain Do Not Open com wants $5K on it. You could imagine mine, Dont Open com - is shorter, catchier and much more brandable.

Right off the bat you mention a secondary option that is for sale. You might like your domain better, but the potential buyer might actually like this domain better at a lower price.

The BIN on that domain is set on $7.5K USD
If you have a better figure in mind (no lowball, please), let me know.

$2,000 is a strong opening offer for a domain like this.

It is not like he offered $2,000 for Loans.com.
That would be a lowball.

Labeling his original offer a lowball is kinda rude.

I'm not going to counter offer, because I have no time for these games.

This line comes off as rude again. The guy makes a legit opening offer.

Instead of negotiating you say you don't have time for "these games". He is not playing games.

We could have a quick deal, and even save a couple of bucks from the Sedo service, by using paypal right away.

I would not even mention Paypal for a potential Mid $X,XXX - High $X,XXX deal.

In the future I would probably be more careful about how you respond to a serious offer.

Brad

I personally like Dont Open to Do Not Open, but hey I guess some dont agree... Either way it could be the guy that owns the other name, wanting to make it a set.

Brad, I understand what you mean...
Yeah... "hostile" is not quite the word,
But I guess I was super busy that day -
And that was my way of replying. wcis.

The right word is 'unprofessional'. I have never owned more than 50 domains in my life and never got any such offer. Though I have been selling lots of low priced domains and even I do correspondence in a more professional manner.
The words such as 'please' and 'thanks' are always good and should be used as much as possible when you are selling something. As the others stated earlier it is always good to stay to the point as nobody wants to read tittle tattle and long stories/texts when they are doing business. I understand this even though english is not my first language.

@Trader

I wouldn't read too much into that post, nothing detrimental about it at all. Comments like that are the flavour of forums....

Looking forward to see the result of this :) GL!

BTW, does anyone uses ECOP as escrow? They have just 1% fee.
