I recently purchased a domain from nominate, never used them before and after it was registered they sent me a certificate showing the domain name, my information, signed by them etc.. Pretty cool...

Maybe moving forward at some point we could request the certificate of registration to confirm ownership.

Looks like this might be a good idea for other registers, any thoughts?

PS - It would also give any end user you were selling a domain to more trust IMO.

This is definitely a great idea, but it would need a lot of work.

Currently, that would be easy to fake and impossible to confirm unless the registrar let you "send it in" to confirm its validity. Even then, what prevents it from being stolen and transferred to someone else? Nothing at the moment.

There's a very simple solution to prevent domain theft: 2FA. Everyone needs to use it.
