I believe that President Biden was right when he said that Russia is going to Invade Ukraine.

Any intelligent person is going to come to the same conclusion knowing that Russia has already decided to pay any price imposed on it by the West through sanctions.

Short of full military confrontation by the West there is nothing that can make Russia to change its mind as they see this as a golden opportunity to resurrect the once powerful superpower that was equal to the USA.

But Russia’s ambitions are not going to stop with taking over Ukraine since it already has made plans to increase its sphere of influence to Asia, Middle East, and South America and perhaps the whole World knowing that the West is most likely not going to do anything beyond just imposing sanctions which ultimately will hurt the West itself by effecting the Global economy in an adverse way the longer that they go on.

I personally don’t like any of the old ideologies, philosophies, and doctrines of Capitalism, Communism, Socialism, Religious Fundamentalism and all the other “ism” that are derived from the bad human characteristics of Greed, Lust, Hate, Cruelty, Jealousy, Prejudice, and lack of Empathy and that have been infringing on our rights in one way or another throughout the history because they can only exist through supporting inequality, oppression, suppression, torture, killing, and War.

When it comes to saving the World the last thing that I want to see is the further expansion of these old systems that have all already proven to be a failure in dealing with the existential problems that are currently facing Humanity and the Environment.

We don’t want all these political, Religious, and Racial parties and groups to resurrect their past, we want something new that can propel the World into the next Era that is based on the Universal Principles and Values that have been derived through Logic and Compassion and not through Force and Violence.

By “We” I mean all the Intelligent, Righteous, and Peace loving people of the World.

Russia can barely handle Ukraine. Attacking a NATO country would be the end of Putin's army.

We can't say that with 100% certainty considering that NATO (perhaps rightfully) is and has been so hesitant to start a Nuclear War while on the other hand Russia probably might see it to be in its strategic advantage to launch couple of its hypersonic Nuclear missiles just to test NATO.

I can already envision a scenario where Russia has hit couple of remote and unpopulated but strategically important targets and the West's response is just looking to come up with more sanctions.

And let's not forget that a lot of the smaller Eastern European Countries are not part of NATO and so technically Russia can expand its territory in Europe without getting in direct confrontation with NATO.

I would think it would be complicated for Russia to navigate to those other EU countries without different angels of resistance , it all really depends on how Putin intends to go out IMO , as @mr-x said , and I hadn’t thought about , Putin has a family to protect, perhaps he will take the protecting his family route as opposed to letting it all fly , seeing that scenario makes me think of other scenarios as to why Putin might not launch Nukes . IMO

Well Russia probably isn't going to need Nukes to take over some of the smaller Eastern European Countries that are not part of NATO so there is still a lot for the taking if and after Russia manages to take over Ukraine.

And remember that Putin as an old KJB officer knows that the best way to protect his family is to go on the offensive and come out a victor (we all know from history what happens to world leaders and their families when they get defeated).

Nevertheless the next few days in Donbas is going to determine a lot of what is going to happen next.

Ukraine's strength thus far has been the anti tank and anti aircraft weapons that they were given by the West,

But most likely the new commander of the Russian forces is not going to make the Russian tanks into sitting ducks like what happened previously and will probably engage the Ukrainian forces from far away in the open range as to keep the tanks out of the reach of their weapons.

This along with the fact that Russia has been targeting and destroying Ukraine's S-300 anti missile systems in the past few days can put the Ukrainian forces in a big disadvantage going into the new War in Donbas.

It's very important for the Ukrainian forces to realize that the factors that worked in their favor in the past might not be there any longer and that they might not be able to use the same tactics to win as before.

I still believe that Ukrainians should forget about the Donbas region as insisting on defending that region might result in the downfall of the whole Ukraine.

Best to try to give the Peace talks one last chance before it's too late.

PS: I am going to put my focus on my health and my personal life for awhile and so I might not be able to participate in this thread everyday like before although I am going to continue reading it whenever possible. I hope that everyone can come to their senses and put an end to all this death and carnage.

I forgot to mention that there is also the possibility that NATO calls the Russia’s Nuclear bluff and intervenes in the Donbas War on behalf of the Ukrainians resulting in the Russian forces being pushed out of Ukraine.
