I believe that President Biden was right when he said that Russia is going to Invade Ukraine.

Any intelligent person is going to come to the same conclusion knowing that Russia has already decided to pay any price imposed on it by the West through sanctions.

Short of full military confrontation by the West there is nothing that can make Russia to change its mind as they see this as a golden opportunity to resurrect the once powerful superpower that was equal to the USA.

But Russia’s ambitions are not going to stop with taking over Ukraine since it already has made plans to increase its sphere of influence to Asia, Middle East, and South America and perhaps the whole World knowing that the West is most likely not going to do anything beyond just imposing sanctions which ultimately will hurt the West itself by effecting the Global economy in an adverse way the longer that they go on.

I personally don’t like any of the old ideologies, philosophies, and doctrines of Capitalism, Communism, Socialism, Religious Fundamentalism and all the other “ism” that are derived from the bad human characteristics of Greed, Lust, Hate, Cruelty, Jealousy, Prejudice, and lack of Empathy and that have been infringing on our rights in one way or another throughout the history because they can only exist through supporting inequality, oppression, suppression, torture, killing, and War.

When it comes to saving the World the last thing that I want to see is the further expansion of these old systems that have all already proven to be a failure in dealing with the existential problems that are currently facing Humanity and the Environment.

We don’t want all these political, Religious, and Racial parties and groups to resurrect their past, we want something new that can propel the World into the next Era that is based on the Universal Principles and Values that have been derived through Logic and Compassion and not through Force and Violence.

By “We” I mean all the Intelligent, Righteous, and Peace loving people of the World.

IMO

Not sure how a California bottleneck relates to this thread... I thought that was the Russian navy off the coast of Odessa.

I think oil / natural gas is cleaner than "renewable" energy that can't be renewed and it's important for America to be energy independent right now. You keep complaining about my view point. We disagree. Let it go.

Ukraine war: President Zelenskyy says no-fly zone is needed to avert humanitarian catastrophe as thousands flee in ceasefire

It will not happen. Sorry for how it'll sound, but they're not going to war with Russia for Ukraine. The EU very clearly said, it cannot be done. America won't do it either. Actually I think one eastern European leader said "calls for a no-fly zone are irresponsible", can't remember who it was.

A no-fly zone would mean any aircraft would be shot down, what planes are flying there? Russian..

It's usually done for military operations, I don't if there's a such a thing "for humanitarian purposes".

This is not a debate about renewable energy - here is a thread if you care to contribute.

Much of the oil is used to make plastics. This should help: The UN Environment Assembly resolved to End Plastic Pollution and forge an international legally binding agreement by 2024. The resolution addresses the full lifecycle of plastic, including its production, design and disposal.

One more time. America should not depend on unfriendly foreign powers for energy. Multiple source are strategically important but we should be energy independent.

Why? Because a weak, feckless leader running America invites tyrants and power hungry nations to prey on their weaker neighbors.

I don't care what you think about "renewable" energy. I don't care you think parents struggling to support their families with skyrocketing inflation, housing cost and energy cost need to count their blessing they don't live in Ukraine.

The horror! :stop:

Mariupol is being erased by RF shells on our eyes. A direct blow at the maternity center has happened. Women in labor and kids are under the wreckage. Instead of new lives - deaths. Won't it be enough to close the 🇺🇦 sky from missiles? Isn't it an argument to stop the killing?

I hear where you're coming from... Putin attacks nuclear power plants, your former leader attacks windmills 🤫

Nukes of all types are, and have been on the table (from battlefield to nation killers).

The first non conventional weapons used will likely be chem or bio.

"Ukraine has biological research facilities," says Under Secretary Victoria Nuland. She has "no doubt" that in the event of a biological or chemical attack, #Russia would be responsible. pic.twitter.com/dHQ2Iy3Xxz

You're obsessive complaints have convinced me. Encouraging Russia to invade Ukraine and ruining the world economy for zero emission energy will be awesome.

Under Secretary Victoria Nuland:

"It is classic Russian (Putin) technique to blame on the other guy what they are planning to do themselves."

I have to agree with Victoria. Just see the last examples: Blaming Ukraine about a nazi government, when the real Nazi, a real Hitler personification, is invading a democratic country, mass shelling its civilians and trying to starve their population by siege (identical as Hitler did in 1941).

I don't know if you are really serious. The russian Hitler is mass bombing by air right now innocent civilian buildings, maternities included. Killing by airstrikes hundreds of innocent people, women and children included. Don't you think is enough "humanitarian" reason to close the airspace to prevent this massacre?

Our only hope, before the invasion of Ukraine drags neighboring countries/NATO into the war, is that through some miracle, the citizens of Russia can make/force a change from within.

Considering what is happening to protesters in Russia, this young man might not be posting much longer. Roughly translated, I think his sign says "hug me if you are against the war".

On this vid, Russian tiktoker Alex Medved standing in front of Moscow metro station with cardboard: “Hug me if you are against the war” 🙂 Change Always Comes From The Inside Out, Real Change Comes From Within ❗#UkraineRussianWar #Ukrainian #Ukraine️ #Russia

You're not getting it. They cannot do it without being at war with Russia, they're not at war with Russia, not NATO, not the EU, not America. They cannot control the airspace that Russia now controls a large part of. If they attempt to, they'll automatically be part of the current military operation, which they don't want.

This is not about me being serious, & shouldn't be about you being emotional.

It's either you don't want to understand, or you just don't.

Mariupol authorities accuse Russians of bombing children's and maternity hospital

The city council of the southern Ukrainian city of Mariupol has posted video of a devastated children's and maternity hospital in the city and accused Russian forces of dropping several bombs on it from the air.

"The destruction is enormous. The building of the medical facility where the children were treated recently is completely destroyed. Information on casualties is being clarified," the council said.

"A maternity hospital in the city center, a children’s ward and department of internal medicine ... all these were destroyed during the Russian air strike on Mariupol. Just now," said Pavlo Kyrylenko, head of the Donetsk regional administration.

Donetsk region police say that according to preliminary information, at least 17 people were injured —mothers and staff — as a result of the Russian attack.

"Information on victims is being clarified," the police said

Of course I get it. Of course I already understand that NATO cannot enter the airspace without entering at war with Russia. I am not saying that NATO has to close the airspace, or don't.

I am arguing about your phrase:
It's usually done for military operations, I don't if there's a such a thing "for humanitarian purposes".
Maybe I misunderstood you? But in my book, closing the airspace to prevent a massacre is clearly "humanitarian". So yes, it can be for "humanitarian purposes".
Letting appart if it is possible to close it or it isn't.

I think you did. I was saying that i'm not aware that its ever been done for humanitarian purposes, without actually being part of a military operation.

That's all

The russian Hitler at its finest. A ruthless mass murderer. And think that those barbarians that have bombed the maternity, don't move a finger without Putin's previous instructions.

And do not think they didn't know where they were bombing. They know what they are targeting very clearly.

It has been done before, but can the West trust Putin not to engage humanitarian flights?

The Berlin Airlift - one of the largest humanitarian aid missions in history.

On June 24, 1948, Soviet forces blockaded all road, rail and water routes into Berlin’s Allied-controlled areas, stifling the vital flow of food, coal and other supplies. Soviet troop numbers dwarfed those of the Allies, which had drawn down after the war, so there was little the Allies could do about it militarily.

But the Soviets couldn’t block Allied airspace, so U.S. and UK forces took to the skies to get supplies to the Allied sectors. On June 26, the U.S. launched Operation Vittles, which the U.K. later joined. It was the biggest aerial resupply mission ever embarked upon.

On Easter Sunday, April 17, 1949, the constant procession of planes managed to deliver 13,000 tons of cargo, including the equivalent of 600 railroad cars of coal – all in one day!
