I believe that President Biden was right when he said that Russia is going to Invade Ukraine.

Any intelligent person is going to come to the same conclusion knowing that Russia has already decided to pay any price imposed on it by the West through sanctions.

Short of full military confrontation by the West there is nothing that can make Russia to change its mind as they see this as a golden opportunity to resurrect the once powerful superpower that was equal to the USA.

But Russia’s ambitions are not going to stop with taking over Ukraine since it already has made plans to increase its sphere of influence to Asia, Middle East, and South America and perhaps the whole World knowing that the West is most likely not going to do anything beyond just imposing sanctions which ultimately will hurt the West itself by effecting the Global economy in an adverse way the longer that they go on.

I personally don’t like any of the old ideologies, philosophies, and doctrines of Capitalism, Communism, Socialism, Religious Fundamentalism and all the other “ism” that are derived from the bad human characteristics of Greed, Lust, Hate, Cruelty, Jealousy, Prejudice, and lack of Empathy and that have been infringing on our rights in one way or another throughout the history because they can only exist through supporting inequality, oppression, suppression, torture, killing, and War.

When it comes to saving the World the last thing that I want to see is the further expansion of these old systems that have all already proven to be a failure in dealing with the existential problems that are currently facing Humanity and the Environment.

We don’t want all these political, Religious, and Racial parties and groups to resurrect their past, we want something new that can propel the World into the next Era that is based on the Universal Principles and Values that have been derived through Logic and Compassion and not through Force and Violence.

By “We” I mean all the Intelligent, Righteous, and Peace loving people of the World.

ok he has a point

honestly, I don't care if Ukraine is democrazy or not

when NaziGermany was attacking Russia
Russia hasn't been a democracy, right?

Still, NaziGermany committed a crime and has to be condemned

The same is true for the Russian invasion, which is real,
no doubt about that fact, or?

If Russia stops shooting at Ukraine
the war ends immediately

that's what must happen. Now.

Why don't you support that?

Yes, my Western partner, when Russians talking, You leave.
Last 150 years, not today only.
You think You are proud.
I think You are scared. Scared not because weakness, but misunderstanding.
"That f...ng drunk Russian bear want something again. We don't care. We will continue."

We have proverb: "If somebody spit your back, it means you are ahead".

Now terrible days for us.
For everyone in our little beautiful Earth.

Why? It's not a time for discussions. Too late.

But. It's not the End.

You will see.

@frank-germany

This thread was doing okay until you got here,

You are picking up where you left with your nasty attitude, tasteless and insulting mems and harsh and demeaning comments towards other members.

I am not going to allow you to derail this thread like the many others that you have done in the past.

Lives are being lost,

This is a serious discussion for analyzing this horrible situation,

I only have two words for you:

Be Professional

You need to be more tolerant of opposing views to yours as long as other members are abiding by the rules of this thread and the forum's. If you don't behave yourself I am not going to post in my own thread here anymore which will be a loss to all those who are interested in getting an honest and impartial analysis of this situation from someone who has no affliction to anyone and who wants to stop the loss of lives on all sides by finding a fair and practical solution to this conflict based on the realities on the ground.

I know that NamePros makes their money by promoting fights between the members here and they might be happy to let people stir up every thread in order to get more traffic, but by messing up this thread you are going to have the blood of many innocent people on your hands that might have been helped otherwise.

Going forward I expect to see only constructive and helpful input from the members here.

Analysis - Lessons from Soviet Afghanistan

The Mujahideen did not fight in the expectation of victory on the battlefield. They fought because it was the right thing to do. They were prepared for a long, perhaps endless, struggle in which they, and the Afghan people, would suffer many more casualties than their enemies. The Soviets tried to win through the largely indiscriminate use of overwhelming firepower. However, at the end of the day, sensitivity to casualties and Third World opinion combined with the difficulty of maintaining larger forces in theatre, and the fact that Afghanistan was not of fundamental importance to the USSR prevented the Soviets from deploying sufficient strength to destroy their implacable foe.

Having met with so much resistance by the Ukrainian people along with all the condemnations received from the rest of the World at this point it is most likely that Russia is going to forget about Kyiv and limit its plans to the Eastern part of Ukraine only. Probably along the line starting at Kharkiv in the North and ending in Odessa in the South.

Looking at the map of the region and realizing how close Moscow is to Russia's Western borders with Ukraine I believe that taking over the Eastern half of the Country is the least that Russia is going to settle for at this time if Kyiv is going to be spared somehow.

The sanctions against Russia are not even valid for a week & it seems that Putin's oppressor system is already running out of money! Short thread on the state of affairs:

Russian citizens are no longer allowed to transfer money to foreign accounts. Even debts abroad may no longer be paid. Crazy attempt to prop up the plummeting ruble.

Companies are also no longer allowed to transfer funds to other countries. Exception: In contrast to private individuals, they may continue to service debts abroad. Putin can't avoid it - if he forbade it, it would be official national bankruptcy!

According to the Moscow Times, however, Putin has signed a decree requiring Russian exporters to hold "at least 80% of their earnings in rubles." Another desperate attempt to strengthen their own currency, which will make the companies bleed badly.

Another Putin decree bans anyone leaving Russia from carrying more than $10,000. Apparently very afraid that wealthier citizens will keep their money safe from him.
The bank run has already begun.
@derspiegel reports:
"People in Russia are withdrawing large amounts of money from their accounts. Long queues have been forming at ATMs in Moscow for days because of the Western sanctions against Russian banks." (03/02/2022)
On the stock exchange, Putin is playing the old child's game "If I close my eyes, you won't see me either!" - the Moscow Stock Exchange has now been closed for a week (!) . No announcement as to when/if it will reopen. Apparently panic before total crashes.

It's all useless though: the ruble is now worth LESS than a cent. Even the cryptocurrency Bitcoin is now more valuable than all rubles combined. Disgrace to the Russian economy.

Good news:

It appears that an agreement has been reached through yesterday's diplomatic talks between Ukraine and Russia to create certain corridors for providing humanitarian aid and evacuation of civilians.

Terrific news, before russians were associating americans with coca-cola, jeans and hollywood movies, now with weapons and instructors helping ukraine soldiers to kill russian ones(and vice versa since more weapons on battlefields lead to further excalation) in the conflict between 2 neighboring countries...

The fact is that Russia wants a buffer zone between its borders and the NATO countries and is willing to do whatever it takes to get it even if it has to destroy all the Ukrainian cities.

Short of NATO getting directly involved in this conflict which is going to risk having a Nuclear Armageddon there is really nothing standing in Russia's way in achieving its goals.

In my opinion NATO should have made some compromises couple of weeks ago to meet Russia's security concerns considering the realities on the ground, but now it's kind of hard to turn the clock back although as long as both sides are engaging in diplomatic talks there is still some hopes for them to be able to find a solution to deescalate the War.
