Im posting this message from HP ~ Bristol, UK where I'm currently doing work experience.

I have to say, this is the most awesome place to work, I'm having a hell of a time!

P.S. I can't say much else (stupid secrecy contract :p)

Work Experience

Im going into year 10 next year. Im not sure what to do for work experience.Something to do with computers probably. Any ideas?

Well, i spent my week doing tours, coding and playing around with TAPE drives.... :kickass:

For those of us not aware, what exactly is Work Experience in the UK? An official sponsored program, or a common term used to describe (what we in the U.S. call) being an "intern" at a well established company?

hmm, i remmeber my work experience, i had a hell of a time stacking shelves. It was great, no thinking at all

Did you get anything free from hp? like a printer or something :D

Work Experience is a program that ALL students have to do, in year 10 at some point.

It involves working for a week at a workplace (anything for Sainsburys - Microsoft)

A Tshirt (wearing it now)
A Baseball Cap
A Mag
A Flash USB Stick
A Laser Light
A Pen
3 or 4 other goodies i cant think of off hand

PLUS ive been invited back :D

I had great fun there, i even managed to teach my boss (in Logistics), CPANEL :p

I remember my work experience, I done it at some place that made circuit boards or something for planes/tanks and stuff it was proper boring but it was worthwhile i got 100 quid at the end. That was like 5/6 years ago. They also offered me a job but I was like hell no (was really boring) it involved doing programing and some other stuff.

The army or the police sounds the best to do work experience for, but at the time i think mad cow or something stupid like that was out and they wouldnt let me in lol
