Hey all,

What kind of laptops does everyone use and what would you buy right now for development work???

I am searching around for the best deal but I am willing to spend what I have to for something decent. I am concerned about performance and I know a $600 deal is not going to do it for me.

I will be running aps like photoshop, dreamweaver and even apache on occasion so performance is a must..

I used to have a awesome Dell Inspiron. It was very fast and it worked beautifully. I was using remote desktop so when ever I used my laptop I just tied right into my pc... That is what I want to do now..

What do you all use???

Also, I am thinking about upgrading my pc too. What motherboard/cpu would you all concider? bang for the buck is what works here...

Thanks :)

By the way== This is really important to me so I really apprecaite your answers....

Rich

I fgured while I was on this topic of upgrading I would ask for other information as well....

Best Flat screen monitors for the money. Is it possible to buy 2 decent 19 inch flatscreens for under $400?

Video Cards? What is the best deal for $100?

My pc recently crashed and unfortunatly I didn't have the money to do a great upgrade so I ended up with a sempron 3400 and a k7 motherboard. It isn't really too bad but I need more.... I paid about $260 for the kit and I bought it 2 weeks ago. If anyone would be willing to swap something let me know....

Also, please help me in my search for products..

I have found the following so far...

HP Pavillion DV6000T series... This seems like an awesome deal...

Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo processor T7200 (2.00 GHz) -- 2 gig of ram
-- 256MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7400 -- 120 gig hard drive- LightScribe Super Multi 8X
DVD+/-RW w/Double Layer -- The quoted price from hp is lower than $1500 for this package
Does anyone have any experience with this type of system??

Thanks so much for the response.

I figured that most developers were computer geeks like me... Oh well...lol

Yeah, Overkill.. I like overkill..lol

That memory sure would come in handy though for certain applications. You know those occasional times when you have to open a rather large database using notepad? Or those times when you happen to have Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Smart FTP, a browser, Apache and more all going at once?? Those rare times are when that memory and extra cpu power will come in handy...lol

I also have to upgrade my pc. Right now I am using about a gig of memory and I could definitly use more on this rig. I am what most would consider a power user. I have 2 monitors set up and I am always running multiple apps. It is very easy to do when running 2 monitors...

Any tips on a good Motherboard / CPU combo?????

Thanks...
