Windows acting Strange!

I dunno why such stuff happens with me..

my problem

In My Documents i cant suddeny see files and folders its like they are not there


BUT when i see the start menu there is My Pictures and it opens with all files and if i manually type in the folder name it displays the files but the same folders i cant see inside My Documents ( i checked they are same directory)

the last program i installed was cygwin and HyperVRE cause i wanted to run cron jobs for my server. can it be because of that?


I also saw errors Errors in the rootkitrevealer about Windows API key mismatch...

and yes i googled.

any help would be grateful i will be switching t MAC OS X soon but need to stay with this windows for a while :td:

Hmm i think it may be that you've not got "show hiden folders" on...

i. Right-click "Start," and then click "Explore" to open Windows Explorer.
ii. On the "Tools" menu, click "Folder Options," and then click the "View" tab.
iii. In the "Advanced settings" box, select "Show hidden files and folders" under "Hidden files and folders."
iv. Click "OK" to close the window.

EDIT: i read what you said wrongly, i doubt the above will work but ill leave it there just incase

also you could try restarting your pc or email windows support about it

Hey jake thanks for the reply appreciate it ..it wasnt a software problem , my HDD crashed and i being lazy didint even make a backup! i lost hunderds of GB of data which was collected over yeaarssss now i am using a laptop.
