I was wondering what you thought about the future of TVs. Does anyone else get the idea that TVs may become obsolete in the future. For example, tapestore.com would have been a great domain in the past, but now cdstore.com would be the equivalent of today. Could the TV turn out to be a thing of the past for some type of holographic viewing device. I know that this is a generic question, but I though I'd run it past this forum to see what you all think... Thanks

I don't see TV's becoming obsolete anytime soon. CD's however, belong in a museum. I still use tape on a regular basis to hold things together.

Anyone reading this thread, don't bother to look it up. Hologramstore dot com is already taken (since 1999). I checked it just now. I'm a sleazy speculator.

About 150 years after holograms become obsolete, videos will be transmitted directly through your eyeballs via implants. You can still reg eyeballscreen.com - it's still available. And eyeballtv.com is on drop status as of this writing.

Then 200 years after that, videos will be trasmitted directly into your brain via dream signals (remember the Lightspeed commercials on Fry's dreams in Futurama?). The bad news is, Dreamvision dot com is already taken.

People still do keyword + store + .com to find what they're looking for? Sounds like 20th century thinking.

If I'm buying something or looking to buy something, you better believe I'm heading to Google or a consumer-reporting website.

As for the original question, I don't think TVs will really be replaced by a new medium, but people are changing the ways they're watching TV -- from tablets and smartphones, for example.

That's a Google +1 for you, buddy. I agree with you completely.

I'm putting my hologram domains in my living will so that my children can sell them to end users in 50 years.

some time ago I saw an "air" tv that is basically a projector so your tv is any size/resolution you need
with that and 3d tvs will be replaced by holograms, 3d tv, look the superbowl from any angle you want and the closeup you like
sports tv and porn will never be the same XD

It might be a computer. For me a TV has become needless as soon as I started to use broadband unlimited internet connection. Do not like TV as the informational source, so think it might be replaced, but not very soon.

in a strict way the montior is a tv

still if bill gates can do what he promise we will get worldwide internet television without commercial breaks, only small adds in a corner ^^ (and I say we even that I am not from the US)

Yeah, that is reasonable. Internet has everything that is broadcasted on TV, while tv has not even a tenth part of all that stuff present in the internet. For me the TV is also a passed stage.

cdstore? no one uses CDs anymore - its all mp3 and itunes!

I dont see tvs ever going anywhere. Sure the technology might change - CRT, rear projection, plasma, lcd, led, oled, etc - but that fact is that all those technologies are still called "tvs" which will never change

Anything greater than 21-inch will be called a TV.

Anything below that, will be called an IPad.
