Has anybody heard of any initiative to create city TLDs?

I have seen hacks such as .la being used for los angeles.

I am just wondering if actual assigned city domain extensions are a possibility

u dont really have to worry about laos taking .la back, laos is not that busybody. not to mention that their country is not that clean of corruption, they will have a lot to do for themself.

laos taking back .la might happen in 10 more years I guess hahaha.

Nobody can take things back from Americans :) Americans have weapons.

I always thought .la is more popular in China than in LA

Newsgroup.la is among the top 15 most popular sites in China. just alexa it.

Now that is interesting. What does la mean in Chinese?

I have a few two letter .la, not very worried about the Laos government. Laos likes that domainer money, just the same as Tuvalu (.tv) does. Wish they would make a deal with Los Angeles rather than pretend, though.

I don't know lah!

"la" is just a sound, doesn't mean anything in Chinese.
