question Why .VC domains selling so high? Venture Captial?

This question is running through my mind lately, noticing a major increase in demand/value for .VC domains, is it because VC stands for Venture Capital?

Are there any venture capital firms start using .VC domains for their business sites?

Wondering how this increase in demand/value for .VC domains will positively impact domains such as VentureCapital.com, VC.com or so..

Thanks

There are actually quite a few .vc names being actively used by venture capital companies.
Do a site:.vc Google search to bring up many. (5 million + results, but many duplicates)
It is not in same league as .co or .io, but many operating sites.
Of course .vc can mean other things, virtual class, video conferencing, etc. and a few sites use it for other things, and of course the country region it is actually for.

It’s very irrelevant but we shall give the hype that it asks Craig

I think it is very relevant.

People read these posts and jump on the bandwagon without knowing all the facts.

As long as Bob ain’t attacking me I’m pretty kewl : )
I don't do attacks haha. :xf.grin:
I agree with your observation .vc commanding higher prices and see more of it.:)

I don''t disagree with @Samer opinion the extension may come back down. We need a don't disagree response! :xf.cool:

Right now a few investors view it as POSSIBLY something like .io in the early days. It is interesting to read the .io thread on NamePros from years ago where people were trashing those acquiring great dictionary words, domains that now would easily be 5-figure names.

I was not at the last in-person NamesCon about a year ago, but understand there was chatter amongst some distinguished investors around possible growth in .vc. If it becomes more the "in thing" to be on a .vc, then I think one advantage is that low to mid $$$$ will not scare off investment firms as a reasonable price, unlike some sectors that don't seem prone to pay much for domain names.

It is encouraging that a new high for a sale in the extension has been set with the ParkIO sale just closed.

While I could only find a handful of examples outside venture capital when I researched it some months ago, there are many other possible uses of the combination V and C. I think a bit of chance it might take off like .io has expanding first from a narrow coding base to now more general purpose use. I would say odds are against that, but not impossible.

ICYMI Jason Sheppard sold a couple of mid $$$$ ones on successive days, and we talk about that, among other things, in this interview. He is dominantly invested in .com, but did have success with a rather limited total investment in .vc.

In researching for that article I looked around at what .vc are currently being used. Here are some examples, in case anyone interested. I could readily have listed at least hundreds, and that was many months ago when I did the research. Venture capital is a strongly growing sector, many of the companies are sort of small in terms of people, there could be a lot of opportunity. And there could not, too.
As far as I could see, no single .vc website has a particularly high global use ranking, but hundreds or thousands of .vc extension names are in use for active websites. Here are a few samples to provide an indication of the types of names that get used in the extension. 500.vc (redirects to the .co), butterfly.vc, DCP.vc, differential.vc, flashpoint.vc (redirects to matching .com), hive.vc, inovia.vc, karma.vc, loyal.vc, luge.vc, vanedge.vc (redirects to .com) and visible.vc.

Bob

PS Disclosure I do have some .vc names in my portfolio. I have so far only had one offer and not sold any. That may be correlated with fact some of them I don't even have landers up :xf.eek: or listed on marketplaces. Shame on me!! The ones I do have landers, seem, in general, to get fewer visits compared to other names I have at Epik. But that might just reflect bad name choices on my part.:lookaround:

$10,000 is high? How often does .vc sell

Agree there have not been many high .vc sales. I sold IP.vc for $4,999 in 2020 and IP is a pretty solid LL it's not like it sold for $100,000.

It was sold yesterday. Maybe we need to give them a bit of slack to get their site up?

This is a crazy theory, (just for fun) hear me out:

Maybe due to the recent Bitcoin prices, a lot of people "gained" a lot of money & now want to become investors/venture capitalists, thus the increase in demand of .vc registrations :p

i still think Climate.vc record sale comes from someone empowered by administration change. Climate # 1 now.

I don't know Bob, maybe! But I'm not sure what this has to do with the domain's registration. Someone bought it today maybe or in the past week
The domain lasts available for registration in 2018. So there is no way someone going to register it recently.

Exactly! A few days ago insurance.vc was on sale and it was available for 8.99$.
Just in few days, it jumped to 100$+ for no reason.
.
And I just checked after this post, its already registered
I wonder if an error possible? The name was created in 2018, and continuously registered, according to WhoIs.
