.tv Why this names not taken...

Hi every one,

I'm just curious why names like :

stomach.tv 92k search
deserts.tv 33k
bestdiets.tv 22k with $2.50 cpc

are still lying in deleted domains, am I missing something?

I'm sure stomach.tv could be represent a health site, Deserts.Tv maybe for desert vacation or survival guide and BestDiets.Tv a perfect niche for .Tv's.....and why still no one want them ?

All the names still avaible.....

The first two I'd say lack clear usage. Saying it could represent something doesn't mean much, what is the obvious usage? Why would someone really want this name to the extent of buying it off a domainer at a premium?

Best diets, I don't think those stats are right, I get 6,600 searches. That isn't a big market to try and chase with a .tv.

Yup quite true, you should give something back.
Being faithful to the dream, that's one part of domaining that makes it a lucrative business

Oviously the posted search data means little to nothing in real terms. If it did then you'd see a wholesale landgrab as these names would be earning their regfees back every month.

I doubt bestdiets.tv gets even 2 visits a month. And even if both of those clicked a link the domainer is not going to see but a fraction of that 2.50. You could easily test this by grabbing the name and doing a 4 day test/delete via dynadot. I did this for a few months, tested all sorts of names and they all came back with zilch.

I still think .tv can make a great brand but most domainers are going to lose money buying these. RPK seems to be a rare exception.

What do you mean by exact searches? How did you get that number?

If you want to live by the google keyword tool, exact searches are all that matter. If you have development plans it's not of the same importance, but in general you want to know the general search frequency of a WORD, use "Exact" search and not the "broad" search.

Exact gives you the exact # of searches for that word (people type that word ONLY when doing a search) If you do a broad search it will return results that also include other words when the search is performed.

The thing I like about a broad search that is that high is that it implies that there will be numerous potential phrases where it will be possible to rank well, given proper development. Obviously, one is not buying .TV based on an influx of type-in traffic, so broad search gives you a measure of general interest level in related topics.

Totaly agree! :bingo:

Rogue, it won't give you the same SEO benefit as the "exact" search results though and you have to do a lot more work to rank high for the given keyword.

I guess it's all a matter of preference though. We've put together our stack of domains based on our gut feeling. Sure, we check stats every now and then, but stats don't really matter if strong keywords are combined with a good dev plan to go with it.

When people search for "stomach" what are they looking for and is it video related?
